The Force Awakens Vs. The Last Jedi: Is Disney Getting Lazy?

Submitted by: normalfreak2 1 month ago in Entertainment

I think Disney is getting lazy -- did they just phone in the trailer for The Last Jedi? A side-by-side comparison of The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi highlight the formulaic similarities.

Well, considering there's really only something like 8 actual different movie plot formulas...

squidbush I remember reading in an Orbit book there was a formula that would describe the plots and endings of every Science Fiction movie ever  made or written

Considering episode 7 was just a remake of episode 4. Not that it matters real stupid anyway.

Sorry guys. It'd be cool if this was real, but its fake. That isn't the actual Force Awakens trailer. Someone cut it to match the Last Jedi. Remember BB8 or that awesome Millenium Falcon long flight where it shoots up into the sky?

holygod lol damn!  I used this to poop all over my son, who is a SW NUT.  His face looked so deflated too!  Oh well, I'll give him a day or two and show him the real comparisons hehe.  :::back to playing "x-wing":::

melcervini I remember someone cut Tim Burton's Batman trailer to match the Dark Knight trailer and the internet was fooled for a while.

melcervini I'm not, If it's not going to have a single player campaign a long one then I'm still not interested.  Battlefront was an awful over promised game

normalfreak2 "If it's not going to have a single player campaign a long one then I'm still not interested." but... i thought it did... "Live the untold Star Wars story of Iden, an elite Stormtrooper, in an original single-player story." THAT is the only reason i am interested in battlefront 2. you are absolutely right, the first was an over promised game. the original battlefronts, even the ones for the psp, were amazing. there was nothing better than reliving my favourite star wars battle (hoth by the way). while the new battlefront looked incredible, even almost photo realistic at times, it was lacking that true feeling of being a member of the empire destroying the weak and pathetic rebel alliance. but when it comes to star wars, you always gotta have hope.

thezigrat oh My GOD! i cant believe there is another life form out there that knows of avp gold. youre talking about the one from the 90s right? me and brother fucking loved that game! marine, alien, predator, didnt matter, all campaigns were excellent. being an alien was probably the best though, crawling along the ceilings to surprise unsuspecting humans was the best. being a predator was basically like being a tank, and playing as the marine was like a survival horror, where every time i saw a predator or worse i would yell and go, "BLOW IT UP!" and just fuck the facehuggers, i vividly remember as a child just randomly yelling at my computer screen because of those fuckers!

It's not necessarily that they are getting lazy, it's more the whole "why change something that isn't broken".  But yes they are following a layout, yet it seems intentional.  I will say, for both this one as well as The Force Awaken are done well in the fact that unlike most modern trailers, nothing is really given away.

well of course they're getting lazy, that's what happens when entities become greedy and fixated on making as much $ as possible but especially while putting as little $ in.

I think I subliminally knew there were some similarities, but not that many. The ariel battle scenes always look alike in my opinion, but I guess you can only film dogfights so many ways.

fancylad Yea I was shocked when I saw them side by side. Honestly, it's the same exact trailer format.  IE not sure if I should be concerned for the franchise or it's just the trailer they are rinse and repeating.  We already had Episode 4 remade in Episode 7.  I don't want that trend continuing.
