Ivanka Trump Got Her Chinese Trademark Requests Approved The Day She Hung With China's President

Submitted by: fancylad 1 month ago in News & Politics

Coincidence or daddy's influence? The photo up above was taken on April 6 at daddy's resort and second White House, Mar-a-Lago. Dinner with husband and daddy's Senior Advisor Jared Kushner to her right and Xi Jinping, China's president to her left. How's that for strange bedfellows?

If you were hoping that Ivanka Trump was the moral compass of her daddy's White House, that doesn't look like it's going to be the case. According to the Boston Globe, Ivanka's LLC currently has 16 registered trademarks in China and 32 pending applications -- not counting nearly 40 more trademarks in 10 other countries.

Anyone know the laws or regulations on profiting off your White House job title while actually still in office. I feel like if Malia had her own clothing line, while tending to a White House job dad gave her, all while scoring valuable international patents from the world leaders she has dinners with, a lot of people, even liberals, would be giving the Obama's heat.

Give the Trump's credit -- they're cunning business people.

All you people you and I know she would have never even got the chance if Daddy wasn't the president and he didn't have the hots for her unlike "What's her name" his other daughter

Coincidence is only a matter of perspective
  Like Reality.
It is all in the mind
There is nothing outside of it
One is only a stream of consciousness
Floating in a void of oblivion
          A prison of thought
           A temple of ideas
            An island to itself
             No way out
              No way in
You are just a whim of memory

trimble Oh right, the oligarchs hate having so much money. He does business deals with China and pays his own club with our money and good little soldiers like you are always around to defend such shit behavior. Probably because you'd do the same thing.

Cunning? There's nothing cunning about it. It's blatant and probably illegal.

oobaka How so?  Companies get trademarks all the time so that Zhang San(Chinese equivalent of John Doe) can not make purses and sell them as XYZ Brand.  This is something that would have happened regardless of her daddy being the president.  Companies get trademarks so people can't make money off their name.

Don't get me wrong, it is getting a little close to the line, but seeing as she does not have control of the company currently, it's really just business as usual for them.  Something that needs to be done before you enter a market, which they have clearly said they might not even do yet.  Still need to get the trademarks in place so other people are not profiting off your name though, even if you never plan to do business there at all.

Also, please don't take this as me defending the Trumps.  There are plenty of things to be upset at them for, this just feels like grasping at straws though.

waldo863 Public servants (Ivanka) aren't protected as much as The President is from Conflicts of interests.  All i'm saying if people criticized Hillary for giving speeches that's no where near as mucky as this type of behavior is.  This is asking for lines to be drawn that Trump is personally being enriched by this.  These aren't done in the interests of America but being done in interests of Trump.

waldo863 How about this then. Probably just grasping at straws? https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/mar/08/china-approves-trump-trademarks-businesses

China approved 38 trademarks for Donald Trump. He's been fighting for these for 10 years now and they were recently accepted.

This is all a play for Trump to finally get out of his debt and become a Billionaire.

pleasestop Maybe read your own article?  Only ONE of the trademarks has been in a legal battle for 10 years.  the rest were just applied for in April 2016 and only provisionally approved in Feb 2017, a pretty standard amount of time for a Trademark to get approved.  Hime being president likely had nothing to do with the approval of this.  Again, I do agree it is getting in to a gray area a bit, but is really just looks like business as usual.  These are things companies do, regardless of preside

zeegrr And as long as they are Trunp Brand or Trumb not Trump Brand, that's A-OK.  It's one thing to know you are buying a knock-off.  It's another thing entirely, and illegal as long as you have trademarks, if you do not know you are buying a knock off.

Meh, Trademarks are rather easy to get, and the pacing of those completely depends upon the trademark attorney examining them. Really, Ivanka probably has more problems trying to oust Chinese squatters who probably registered her trademark before she could get to the Chinese Trademark office, and are selling goods under her name.

Now, if she had a bunch of patents issue prematurely, then I'd call shenannigans.

bliznik Yeah, honestly, what is wrong with getting trademarks so that no one else can go sell items and call them Trump Brand?  This is a normal business practice and something that would have happened whether or not daddy was president.  It's like people are looking for things to be upset about.  As if we need to look and reach for stuff like this, there is plenty that actually is wrong, this is not.

I know right and left are hard but shouldn't that be Kushner on the right, not to her right.  He is clearly on the right side of the photo, but she is facing us, so that is to her left.  Unless I am just totally off my rocker and Kushner is the oriental guy in the military uniform.

Her husband looks Asian. And what the ??? does he have for military decorations?
On the other hand, China's president looks strangely caucasian
