Goodbye Migrant Farm Workers, Hello FarmBot, The Fully-Automated Agricultural Robot

Submitted by: fancylad 1 month ago in Tech

I don't hate this idea, but one can only assume the hefty price tag the first few generations of FarmBot is going to cost. At least all those years playing FarmVille might payoff after all.

If this automation keeps up, we won't need to build the wall.  All the jobs they come over for are going to robots anyway.

Left out in the rain/dry, then sun/wind. You'd be lucky if this thing lasted a year or two. For those of you've who have never laid irrigation, the power of the sun really can't be overstated in how damaging it is to small plastic parts. 12 separate electrical connections, 3 gas and liquid lines? That's just so many things to go wrong in a dirty real world enviroment

thething911 That's what I thought -- that kind of sensitive hardware won't last long in the elements.

As long as it doesn't have a squirrel sensor, I am onboard with this new technology.

UPDATE: Just looked up the price of the FarmBot. $2,600. *gasp*

Wow!  What a 27 piece screwdriver.  Definitely a product for the Sharper Image catalogue.  This is better.

mentott510 One of my favorite movies!  One of the few that got it right that you can't hear an explosion in space.
