This is some of the finest anime ever made. Both the series and this trilogy of films. The story of how our hero, Araragi, met the most dangerous monster in the world: Kiss-shot Acerola-orion Heart-under-blade. Part 1 and 2 were simply amazing, and part 3 looks even better!
Helsing was also an excellent series. I also liked Black Magic M-66
This isn't 'horror' at all though, even if there are monsters in it :-) It's drama and plot-driven, not shock or terror. It's hardly scary at all most of the time. They spend a lot of time talking, lolz! But when it is scary? It's highly effective O_o
Although, it looks interesting enough so the trilogy may be a rental/download one day.
The movies are much more accessible, lots of action and easy to follow. :-)
The subtle things that make a big difference, the Bakemonogatari franchise is built on those.
Now the finale of the Kizu-monogatari movie trilogy! 6 years in the making, the fans rejoice because it looks every bit as good as the first two.
Part 1: Boy meets vampire, saves her life, boy becomes her servant, sets out to get her arms and legs (which had been cut off) back from the 3 vampire hunters. Gets his ass kicked, is saved by a mysterious man.
Part 2: Boy fights one bad guy, finds out he actually can fight! Gets a leg back. Boy fights second bad guy, his girlfriend helps him discover the weakness he has, gets another leg back.
Part 3: The shit really hits the fan... :-)
If you're lucky enough to have the movie shown near you? And can understand Japanese (it probably is subtitled though) then I'm so envious! I've read the translation of the light novel and there's lots of action yet to come!
Here's a chart of the many forms of Heart-Under-Blade (the vampire) it's too big to put here, it is safe for work.
