Someone Has Finally Written A Song About "Fake News"

Submitted by: 5cats 7 months ago in News & Politics

The jokes fly by fast, if you're unsure what went on or why that's supposed to be funny, just ask!

And here's a look at just how lazy or incompetent some "professional journalists" are these days. Generating "news" from twitter tweets... no fact checking, no references, not even common sense is required. Just a tweet and if it fits the meme? It's news!!

Honestly now. The "worlds greatest living vocalist" is... Barbara Streisand? And her single tweet about getting fat because she's eating pancakes as a result of the stress she feels about Donald Trump being president is... NEWS?? It was extensively covered... This is news too.

At a certain point, it's the viewers job to determine what's "real news" and what's "fake news."

Shitty food like McDonalds and Burger King exists because people are lazy and like unhealthy food.

Shitty media outlets like CNN, FOX, Brietbart, The Drudge Report, and Glen Beck exist because people are lazy and like news that fits their narrative.

The New York Post that you mention is generally viewed as a tabloid. And Barbara Streisand blaming her weight gain on Trump? Anyone with a few brain cells would ID that as a bullshit story, and if you Google search, "Barbra Streisand," "weight," and "Trump" (which I did), you see that the publications that are reporting it are AOL, CNN, FOX, Hollywood Reporter, and so on. You're not going to see the AP covering this one.

thezigrat CNN's been getting a bad rap lately, no? They used to be great -- I remember, but what's their status now? I've been hearing good things and bad. Maybe it's my sources.

I switched off watching the news because of fake stories, and now use only IAB for current events. So far, it's working out well.

fancylad I remember when Fox was a pretty progressive network, They had good programming like Star Trek TNG, (along with a few gross out shows like War Of The Worlds and Freddies Night Mares) but other wise a good network. Then shows like Fox and Friends started to be shown soon after that they went to being Fake News. They were even publicly called out several times in the late 80's and early 90's for fake news Fox countered with the statement that "Fox is an entertainment Network" During that period they would report Glen Beck's opinions as news then later Glen beck would refer these as supporting his statements.

thezigrat Fox has had a pretty lousy track record, remember this: http://www.snopes.com/2016/07/17/fox-news-intelligence-expert-lied-about-working-for-the-cia/ their vetting is so bad this went on for years. So yes, I'd agree, FauxNews, FakeNews, or whatever handle it has now, it is a sincere problem.

AgamemnonTheGreat Scary part is this is where the President gets his intelligence briefings and not from the CIA and FBI because those offer him   "fake information"
