These are the kinds of people that cheered during Roman gladiator fights and hangings in the South.

This had to be State side.  This wouldn't slide in Canada.  Major suspensions would have occurred from this.

Coming from the land of hockey, if a single fight broke out in a high school game, the player would be ejected, potentially with multi-game suspensions.  The coach would be interviewed.  And that when I was in high school (late 70's) Fighting isn't part of the game until Junior 'A' - just below pro level.

At the pro level, fighting is drying up.

listypoos Having said that, as a Brit I wasn't particularly brought up watching Ice Hockey so my only real prior knowledge of it was from the Newman movie Slapshot, so I guess I was also not as disapproving as I perhaps should have been when it kicked off at a game she took me to.   Can't remember which team it was, but they were from Fresno.

As an aside, it was at that match when as a 32yr old.. a very obvious 32yr old.. i was refused service at the bar because when asked for my driving licence.. so i gave them it.. which at the time the brit driving licence was a piece of paper with no photo on... so they said 'it doesn't have a photo'... 'ah.. but you can see what I look like, cause i'm stood in front of you'.

'no sir.. we need something with a photo on.'

"fair enough pal.... here's my passport"

'that's not a valid form of ID'

"really?  US customs seemed to think it was fuckin good enough"

nada.... still didn't get served.   She had to buy two beers for herself and hand me one later. :)        I grew up in England in the 70s/80s... we used to get served in the pub next to school, when we were in our school uniform. :D

listypoos The tender might have had a ATF agent at the bar or might have been cited before for serving without IDing people. I know a person who did not ask a 60 year old looking person buying smokes who was an under cover ATF and got busted big time

thezigrat That's pretty odd because if the guy was clearly 60, you don't have to ID them unless it's company policy.  I've been through the ATF classes before and had them investigate me before, though granted that was over a decade ago, I don't think much has changed.  Unless you actually sell to a minor, I did not think ATF could bust you for anything.  It's only company policies that force IDing everybody, no matter what.  All ATF says is you need to ID if they look under 35.  Also, a passport is a valid form of ID and you can accept it, again, unless it is against company policy.  You can also accept any out of state or out of country drivers license, as long as it contains a picture, though it is recommended not to as fakes from out of state/country are harder to identify as you may not know what to look for.
