A Fairly Large Pharaoh Statue Was Just Found In A Cairo Slum

Submitted by: fancylad 2 months ago in Science

A team of Egyptian and German archaeologists just found a 26-foot-tall statue that they say probably depicts Pharaoh Ramses II -- Ramses II ruled Egypt more than 3,000 years ago. The statue was found in pieces is the slums of Cairo, and was lifted out, piece-by-piece by a bulldozer and earth movers. Bad ass!

That is so cool.  It is amazing that in many parts of the world, you are building on top of other buildings/structures that were erected several thousand years before.

Makes you realize how "new" say something 300 years old is, in comparison to structures that were built 2 and 3 thousand years before Julius Caesar lived.

Especially in comparison to the fact that dinosaurs ruled the world for about 100 million years.
