Behold! The 3-D Printed House Is Here (And It Only Took A Day To Print)

And only cost $10,000. I can't wait until I can print a Corvette in the driveway!

I'm gonna go ahead and call bullshit on the $10,000 price tag.  Let's see the spreadsheet that shows the excavation and foundation costs, the insulation and windows/doors cost, the roofing cost, the interior finishes cost...  10,000 in the cost of the flowable concrete... perhaps.

dwaterd I'm thinking that's just for materials. Rental of the unit, labor, land and all that would be extra, I'd say. They built it on their business grounds it seems, so no land cost for this demonstration? They used the Printer Machine to insulate it, but I don't know how effective it will be...

IDK about windows and such things, included? Don't know. Might be?

Welcome to IAB!

dwaterd I'm curious on the quality of the concrete printed material, or more concerned actually.  Also, what about a basement?  I NEED a basement for my Pool Table, Dart Board, Air Hockey Table, Cocktail Arcade Machine and Work Shop...where the hell else does that shit go?

Before we get too excited about 3D printing everything (as cool as it is) we need to think about the repercussions.

Automation and off-shoring have devastated the uneducated / unskilled working class in America and Europe. This will make things much worse.

Not only that, but it will negate the positive effects of off-shoring on developing nations. If we print everything and the world moves to a completely service based job market a lot of people are going to get left behind.

holygod It's too late, our desire for material goods will force us out of our jobs as this technology exponentially improves.  We will need to also lose the concept of Money and Wealth in order to survive, move into a Star Trek Utopia where we as humans can concentrate on learning and exploration as opposed to 9-5 jobs to make a living.  But first we will need to go through a major downfall to wrestle the power away from those in charge of Money and Wealth.  If we make it, it might be a better world.

kalron27 you are absolutely right. Robots will create material things for us, AI will work instead of us.. that sounds not really inspiring. In one of the article I read that such kind of automation will lead to middle class destroying

kalron27 Like I said, this has been going on for many years. Various IAB Liberals take it upon themselves to downvote everything I do, disregardless of merit or content. Squrlz4 recently openly called for this and (probably) created several accounts to do it with.

Thanks for your balancing upvote :-) I presume eh? Lolz!
