You Can't Say The Word Cunt In Canada...

Kevin "Bloody" Wilson is a legend in Australian comedy. He does't push the envelope -- he tears it up, sets it on fire, and then urinates on it, to put it out.

Smutty (and as politically incorrect) as he may be, he really waxes lyrical with a lot of his stuff. Being filthy and outrageous could be considered a cheap grab for laughs, but he manages to take it to a new level.

The backstory to this song isn't mentioned in this clip, but is explained in the original release of the recording, which was done at a live gig. He was trying to get an 'R' rating for his upcoming show at the Montreal Comedy Festival, and got told it would be granted, as long as he didn't say "cunt." That was out of bounds, even for an R rating... so, he wrote this song. You can't say cunt in Canada! Enjoy!

Maclean and Maclean, two asshole brothers from Atlantic Canada who lived in Winnipeg for a few years too, were once arrested for saying the word "cunt" in their comedy routine in Ontario... yes, actually "Locked Up For Laughs" (the name of one of their records, lolz!)

Star Wars! In under 3 minutes! NSFW! CONSTANT SWEARING but lord it's funny!!
(ps: they both died, and they'd be proud to be called 'two assholes' because they were really nice guys!)
Listen to their stuff on YouTube, it's just gold.

5cats It's interesting that I find Au, Canadian, and Irish humour to be particularly intierchangable. Similar sense of the absurd. US standups are a bit too...slick? Polished? to a large extent, and don't often translate well (even though we theoreticaly speak the same language. There are, of course, exceptions. Rich Hall is a good example...a US comedian that has worked in the UK long enough to be able to be entirely relevant and relatable to his audience).

buttersrules A lot of great Canadian comedians go down to the US because they are starving for funny stuff!
And news announcers, because our accent (or lack thereof) means various regions don't dislike them. You know? A Yonkers accent doesn't play well in Texas, and LA speech patterns don't fly in Connecticut... :/ Eh?

Oh, that skit I linked? That's the one they were arrested and jailed for...

theman01 Don't get me wrong, I like JJ...he's a funny cunt. But the cuntiest cunt of all cunts, KBW, predates JJ by....buggered if I know how long. But I started listening to KBW back in 1983,1984? Something like that. Back when Kim Hughes was captain of the Au cricket team!

for anyone interested, "I've had an absolute cunt of a day" is quite possibly one of KBW's greatest. :p
