What the hell? It's confirmed that Bill Paxton died yesterday from surgery complications... and that's all anyone knows. His family released a brief statement, but it didn't give much of an explanation other than what you just read in the headline...

"It is with heavy hearts we share the news that Bill Paxton has passed away due to complications from surgery," a family representative said. "A loving husband and father, Bill began his career in Hollywood working on films in the art department and went on to have an illustrious career spanning four decades as a beloved and prolific actor and filmmaker. Bill’s passion for the arts was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth and tireless energy were undeniable. We ask to please respect the family’s wish for privacy as they mourn the loss of their adored husband and father."

Paxton had breakout roles in Terminator, Aliens, and countless others, but he'll always be Chet, the asshole brother from Weird Science to me. Thanks for all the great work, Bill.

And the slimy used car salesmen in True Lies. "The 'vette... gets 'em wet."

Great actor. Very Sad.

FancyLad, thank you for picking the BEST roll he ever played.  Chet was The Man!!

I'll also always remember him as the Tire Tread guy from the Terminator opening scene.

Terribly sad, he was a consummate professional actor. I don't recall ever hearing anything bad about him... pretty rare for Hollywood eh?

Ah man this sucks.  Paxton was an excellent actor.  I highly recommend Frailty, which he directed and stared in.   Early McConaughey film as well, great thriller.

RIP Mr Paxton...Game over man, game over :(

Bummer. He was a good actor and did different characters well. Sleazy guy in True Lies or  dick head in Weird Science or whiney guy in Aliens. And he was great in U-571

Gerry1of1 yeah one of those guys that was pretty much good in whatever role he choose. kinda like miguel ferrer. a guy who in retropect had a badass career yet flew low enough on the radar he probably had a sane life

Gerry1of1 I just watched a bit of U-571 last night -- HBO plays it a few times a week, almost 20 years later.

heart surgery apparently.   Complications post-op resulted in a fatal stroke.

monkwarrior Thanks, Monk -- I had no idea he had heart issues. Horrible -- he had years of great work ahead of him.
