Rolling Stone Just Named Its Top 50 Best Comics Ever -- Of Course We Disagree With It

Submitted by: rumham 9 months ago in Entertainment

It's a good top 50, but Rolling Stone's Top 10 needs lots of work, and their #8 is surprising. Give me your Top 10.

I have always included the Vaudeville style comedy routines as a birther of stand up comedy. No one has done that form of comedy better than Groucho Marx. Many of the old radio personalities would have been great if stand up had really existed back then.

...Also Dane Cook - Am I right?!?!? ...No? I'm not right?

Yea, it was a cheap shot, and I took it.

My wife and I love comedy, always have.  No Top 10, just the Top three on my bucket list,  Louise C.K., Patton Oswald and  Lewis Black.  Already got Dave Attell under by belt and heading to see Brian Posehn soon.  Ron White was funny the first time and Jim Jefferies was fantastic, but the bitches behind us who talked the entire time were not.  Eddie Izzard is in a class of his own.  Outside of that all of my favs are either dead or assaulted women...so they are basically dead to me.

The list starts with Pryor at 50?  It is a useless list

holygod the pages evidently weren't loading right yesterday and there was a video on him with the 50-41 group.  Wanda Sykes wasn't even showing when I looked yesterday

Comedy is too subjective to rate. This is a pointless exercise.

Genuinely surprised Tosh isn't on here given the contemporaries that are. Nice to see Burr getting some recognition.

holygod toshes newist is really good.. and i used to sell him short. bill burr needs to stop podcasting and keep being a comedy guy.  i love bill burr.. and the philly debacle is one of the greatest examples of roastage.

holygod only bill burrs podcast disappoints me recently. hes funny but hes trying to be a snark SNARK john  stweart/billoreilly. like yeh we get it but the reason people listen to stand up. is to be goofy.   brian regan is a great one for doing such. him and Dave Atell where the two giants. but its a list and we talk about it!. its fun right. we all get to be similar for a moment or two.

fancylad Sarah Silverman!? If she wasn't pretty, she'd have no career.

Here is every Silverman bit ever: "I'm a pretty jewish princess. I'm so nice and pretty and jewish. Are we all agreed on how much of a pretty princess I am? Good, now I will say things like 'poop'"

I'm also not keen on Wright and similar monotone one-liner comedians. Funny for soundbites, but not a whole gig...
