With This New Tech, You Really Can't Believe Anything You See On The Internet Anymore

We've all said it at least once: "Video or it didn't happen!"

There was a time when if there was video proof of something, that's we needed to believe. After all, photos can be 'Shopped within in minute. But video? Almost impossible to screw with, right? Wrong.

A German research team has created software that allows them to control the face of anyone in any video on YouTube. It looks a little like the face swap feature on Snapchat and some additional Hollywood CGI magic.

The intended purpose of overdubbing movies is to make translations better for people in other markets and communications with people using translators. Have you ever seen a Star Wars movie dubbed in another lauguage? It's laughable. Knowing that, this idea could be really cool tech tool. I can see this being used to enhance CGI-based movies using real actors to get better effects.

Unfortunately, they used politicians as the example in this video which will speak to the cynic in all of us. How soon before this tool is used to alter politicians' speeches.

This is quite old news, I saw this video or one very similar a year or two back. Just shows you can't take any media at face value.

Well, this is one step to making George Orwell's "Big Brother" a reality.. a leader that never dies, can't be killed, and you'll never see the face of the speaker.

It looks like Peter Cushing and Carrie Fisher from Rogue One...Uncanny Valley gives it away.  Still...some interesting technology and might be used in the future to control us all!
