Trump Kept His Promise On His First Executive Order By Dismantling Obamacare This Morning

Submitted by: bliznik 10 months ago in News & Politics

It's interesting to see the difference in priorities of Obama's first moments in the White House, and Trump's first moments.

In 2009, Obama's first executive order was to remove barriers to government transparency.

Yesterday, Trump's first executive order was to enable any federal agency to disable as many Obamacare provisions as possible. Vice President Mike Pence, senior adviser Jared Kushner, and Chief of Staff Reince Priebus were hovering over her shoulder during the signing, seen in the photo above.

Trump's order is worded so that they can only disable provisions that impose a financial burden on any (1) State, (2) individual, (3) family, (4) healthcare providers, (5) health insurers, (6) patient, (7) recipient of healthcare services, (8) purchasers of health insurance, or (9) makers of medical devices, products, or medications. But every provision of any healthcare law requires somebody to do something... so this gives them a lot of leeway.

I finally get Repeal-Replace. All this time news articles made it seem like Republicans didn't understand the consequences of their own actions. Naw, both Trump and the Republicans know exactly how disastrous repealing Obamacare would be for Americans.

It's the same situation with the fiscal cliff

Step 1: Put the future of Americans in immediate jeopardy.
Step 2: Say, "Either agree to my terms, or suffer."
Step 3: Profit.

Except this time we don't have Biden to save us from disaster. We either agree to Trump's terms, or everyone suffers. Yay!

I can foresee both Trump and the Republican Congress repeatedly using this strategy against Americans and against one another. These will be an interesting four years.

There is, in fact, no "Replace" plan.

Very nearly doubling the US Debt in just 8 years isn't "Put the future of Americans in immediate jeopardy" oh right, it gets kicked down the road to your children, so that's OK! Future Americans can't vote yet!

What a joke... you imagine Obama never once said "Either agree to my terms, or suffer" ? That's a funny one! Since he said exactly that many times... except for MSM spin of course. And lies to cover up or excuse his words.
The endless parade of hate continues...

5cats Stop lying. You're an insanely delusional individual. By repealing the Affordable Care Act (because it's not actually called ObamaCare), the national deficit will increase by over 9 trillion dollars.

Repealing ACA will result in 46,000 deaths on a yearly basis that could be avoided.

Trump is looking to privatize highways and privatize Medicare and Medicaid which will hurt our children infinitely more than the garbage you're making up.

You're such an idiot. It boggles the mind how somebody could be as uniformed as you are. Honestly.

Wait a second. Didn't an IAB post say Trump's Inauguration was the "most expensive ever"? In spite of the private sector putting up many millions?
Why did no one compare the costs to Obama's?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_inauguration_of_Barack_Obama#Presidential_Inaugural_Committee
Perhaps because... it was another lie?
Obama's cost well over $160 Million, with only $53 from the private sector.
Trumps is estimated at 200M, with nearly 100M from the private sector... which means it costs the taxpayers less than Obama's, once inflation is factored in. Plus the increased security costs after weeks and months of riots and death threats... whose fault is that exactly?
http://time.com/money/4637694/trump-inauguration-costs-obama-bush-performers/

So... just another lie from the champions of liars: the MSM and DNC (sorry to be redundant).

Watch Trump when he's signing these things. He's not paying any attention to what he is signing. He's not reading a single word. That is terrifying.

markust123: You do realize that politicians already know and have read the bill before the Signing ceremony right. Although to be fair, I do remember a few who advocated that legislators need to pass a bill before they know whats in it.

kalron27 You just missed the point...completely.  Nancy Pelosi on the ACA..."We'll have to pass the bill before we know what's in it."  Quite possibly the most ludicrous, idiotic and ridiculous  statement ever made by a member of congress...and it was in regards to 1/7 of the nations economy.  A HUMONGOUS  bill, making criminals out of the uninsured that wasn't even read by the congress who passed it.  HELLO!!!  McFly!!!  HELLO!

kalron27 OH I missed the joke.  Seriously?  I will enjoy the wasteland...like I enjoyed the Obama wasteland.  I'm not dependent on some flunky in DC for my prosperity.  Nor should/would most people if they weren't idiots without a plan. The country is still free enough so those with wisdom, faith and a plan can still prosper...and then give back.

Don't worry selling insurance across state lines and HSA's will magically work.  Well they'll work for the majority of people who are healthy because all the sick people will be thrown off the roles so the healthy are put into pools that simply make profit.

normalfreak2  Well at least now if you just don't want to buy insurance your not a criminal, and I have yet to see any one thrown off the roles yet, and selling across state lines how is that bad, if I live in New York and want to get a policy that is more to my needs and affordability I'm not limited to what N.Y. has to offer, I know that's terrible And sense ACA worked so well that millions of people were kicked out of there insurance or pay triple there old payments and out of the world copays or become a criminal that would have there  tax refunds taken by the government for non compliance, and still not have health care ya that worked out real well and lets not forget the keep you policy promise made personally by the last President that turned out to be a big fat lie. Your ilk can not admit when something has failed but want to destroy any chance for change before its even got one foot on the ground. The people gave your plan a chance and it failed us that's why some one promising to make it better was elected. Just like Obama who failed.

casaledana Let's be realistic.  How does allowing selling of healthcare across state borders help?  I can give you a practical and realistic outcome of what Trump and Pence are advocating.  Look at your credit card statement.  I can almost assure you that your bill is coming from South Dakota or Delware that's it.  Want to know why?  Because those states have it written into their regulations that "the credit card company" sets the rules and regulations on themselves.  That's why it's so difficult to seek restitution or pin them down for anything they violate.  They wrote the state laws, that will happen with Healthcare.  100% guaranteed.  If that's the kind of care you want, then you are about to get it.  The cheapest will be out of whatever state offers the least regulation and rules, a race to the bottom.

casaledana I'm not saying it's bad.  I'm saying I'm not sure how it helps.  Hospitals negotiate with Insurance companies on cost.  Costs are directly linked to hospitals and care around you.  You live in New York then you aren't going to save more than 5%.  I'm sorry I don't see it happening.

And what "lie" was that?  "If you like your doctor you can keep him"?

normalfreak2  •President’s weekly address, June 6, 2009: "If you like the plan you have, you can keep it.  If you like the doctor you have, you can keep your doctor, too.  The only change you’ll see are falling costs as our reforms take hold." This is only one instance of him or his minions saying basically the same thing put there are some 37 times according to Politifact, there's a  U-tube video too.

casaledana Just to help prove your point, all of these were false for me.  Due to a fairly unique situation, I was not able to keep my plan, as due to changes caused by ACA, the staff leasing agency my company uses was not able to keep all of us in one large group anymore.  Each customer of theirs needed to be it's own group.  So my plan disappeared and I could not keep it.

Since I had to get a new plan, my Doctor was not on the new plan, so I could not keep my Doctor.

My costs went up, since I am in a smaller group now, I saw no falling costs, just increased premiums and deductibles.

Obama lied, plain and simple.

casaledana Since we can't really tell intent 100%, I'm siding with the goal here, the goal was to get insurance to every citizen, it didn't do that.  It was a noble goal but horribly communicated and allowed to be hijacked by people who don't want to see socialized medicine.  Obamacare is about as free market as you can get without being socialized medicine.

Admittedly, the government is anything but transparent, and Obama didn't do as much as he could have, but his first executive order did just that.
