Don't Worry, Disney Promises They Won't CGI Carrie Fisher In Any Star Wars Films

I have to commend Rogue One for the attempt (as well as the balls to end it the way it did), but the technology is still not there, especially when you place real actors with digital recreations, it broke the movie for me at times.

Hearing that Disney and Lucas Art aren't going to CGI the recently deceased Carrie Fisher in any further Star Wars movies makes me feel good moving forward. However I am totally not against recasting and I don't feel that would be disrespectful. If Leia is that important to the story for EP IX as rumored, it would be more of a classic film making approach to keep the story and character integral to the film as opposed to "killing off screen." I'm pretty sure there is an actress out there that could not only do the part justice, but keep the character alive in Carrie's name.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on this.  One reason the collective nerd world lost their minds over the recent SW movies was because the original actors were used.  I would rather see a CGI Princess Leia with short screen time and an onscreen death, than a recast for the whole movie.  While it might not be disrespectful, it would destroy the character.  It would be like a family member being changed to someone different half way thur your life and tells you to believe it and accept it without question.

VIII still has to make up for VII.. and if it doesn't, IX doesn't matter, and SW is dead.

rumham Why jump immediately to the politics?  Maybe some people just don't like her as an actress.  I know I don't.  I could care less about her political views, I just don't think she'd make a good Leia.

Yeah - I've liked her in a few things, but I just don't really see her as Leia.  The problem is, though, is that I don't think I can see anyone else as Leia either.
