Details are still sketchy, but when Los Angeles wakes up from it's New Year's Eve hangover, it won't take long for the city to see that Hollywood has now been renamed Hollyweed. The modification to the sign (first erected in 1923 as Hollywoodland) happened last night.
No one's been caught, but the LAPD is apparently wasting resources to investigate the matter. This isn't the first time the sign has been updated to say Hollyweed though. The same thing happened on New Year's Day in 1976 when Daniel N. Finegood pulled the old Wood-Weed switcharoo after California decriminalized the possession of small amounts of marijuana.
I'm pretty sure all of Los Angeles won't care if the authorities say, "Eh, OK -- fine. Keep it up for the day."
