A Facebook Live Video Shows Four Teen Kidnapping And Torturing A Special Needs Man

Submitted by: fancylad 5 months ago in News & Politics

Chicago authorities currently have four Chicago people in custody after a Facebook Live video showed a group of people (I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed it the people in custody) torturing a man with special needs. Throughout the video, the four teens are taunting him, holding a knife to him, cutting his scalp, cutting his clothes off, pushing his head into a toilet bowl and making him drink the water, binding him and taping his mouth, forcing him to disparage Trump, all while yelling "fuck Trump" and "fuck white people" themselves.

Throughout the video, the victim is repeatedly kicked and hit and the suspects can be heard saying they want the video to go viral. Welp, it did.

Chicago cops say charges are coming down on the teens today. Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson (who called the video "sickening") said the unnamed victim is recovering from injuries after hospital treatment. Police Commander Kevin Duffin said his team is still investigating the attack to determine whether or not this is sincere or just stupid ranting and raving."

Sincere or ranting and raving? Did Duffin see the video posted above?

Swap their race and see how fast the riots would start.

squidbush That's trivial, swap the race and see how long it takes for a jury to decide if any serious punishment for their actions is too much of an inconvenience.

From the CBC article I was reading, police Cmdr. Kevin Duffin said that the suspects made "stupid decisions".  Are you fucking kidding me???  In what universe could you attribute this horrendous, reprehensible behavior to stupid decisions??  Wow.

Irk I read that too -- "Stupid decisions" is almost like they got caught stealing candy from the local liquor store.

fancylad I know, right?  It strikes me as a deliberate (and wholly incompetent) attempt to try and minimize the outrage, maybe?  It has the complete opposite effect one me, though.   How dare you try to take the edge off this even one iota?

CNN HOST DON LEMON says this is "NOT EVIL" on his show. Let's have a little party for Don and see if he thinks it's evil when it's done to him, eh? In his mind? Any action that harms Trump supporters is good!

Fortunately the Chicago police HAVE said it's a hate crime now.

Don Lemon's "I don't think it's evil... I think these are young people and they have bad home training" was bad but it wasn't even close to Symone Sanders saying it wasn't a hate crime and blaming it on conservatives, white racist, and trump tweets.

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest, "I think it’s too early to tell [if this is a hate crime]"

The level of division in this country is primarily the fault of the current administration.  And it's bullshit like this that cost you the election.

megrendel But a black fellow getting arrested for fighting with a white policeman IS a hate crime, as far as Obama is concerned...
He can't be gone fast enough... SCFOAMF...

Duffin said the department sought hate crime charges because of the victim's diminished mental capacity

Saw that coming a mile away.

insaneai They didn't seem to want to at first.  The hate crime should be two-fold (and it looks like they might be going that way): hate crime against someone's race and a hate crime against someone for their disability.

insaneai The sad thing is that it was even debatable.  And people ARE debating it.

Throw the book at them. Maximum sentences. If there was ever a case where the vulnerable need to be protected by the law (which is the whole point of the law, after all), this is it.

I don't get these people at all. From what I've read (I haven't watched the entire video...I don't think I really want to), they sound like they're trying to torture the man in the name of the BLM movement and as a protest against Trump, but any idiot with a grade-school education could see that this type of video going viral can only create hate towards black people and the anti-discrimination movement in general and generate more support for Trump.

I'm super curious about their motives. What did they think they were going to gain by doing this??? How did this happen? I know a heck of a lot of Trump-haters, and nobody says, "You know what would get a lot of people on our side? If we kidnapped a white guy, beat and tortured him, and forced him to denounce trump while streaming this life..." I wish I could be in the interrogation room.

Either way, what they did was monstrous...I agree with normalfreak2

bliznik Hanlon's razor: "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity"

They THOUGHT they were going to be heroes in the name of BLM.  Their motives were simply 'we got an excuse to beat up whitey'.

They, are fucking idiots.

bliznik really cant see why? I can see two potential reasons.

1- this is what happens when identity politics is played. When youre constantly enouraged to blame problems on someone else and resent them. And add into Trump attacks they dont disagree they are morally wrong and hateful... then doesnr matter what tou do to them.
2- they have a bit more intellect. They did this prefisely to get a reprisal against black community. Get a bigger response this will be forgotten and BLM shoots up the agenda .

Thank goodness it wasn't a hate crime or racist or anything like that.

trimble how is this not a hate crime?  There's clear motives in the video.  At least to me.

normalfreak2 His point is that it's very difficult to have a protected minority charged with a hate crime.  This further demonstrates that because the Chicago PD tried their best to dance around levying the Hate Crime charge.  In the end they had no choice, but it obviously goes against the standing procedure for Chicago.

Well yeah, I was being facetious. Unless this post is the first you've heard of it the narrative (and even in this post the chief eludes to it) is that it is not going to be treated as such.

insaneai Don't hang them.  That would be too nice.  Put them somewhere where anyone who wants can go and do the same things to them they did to this poor guy though.  It's people like this that the police should be taking out their aggression on.
