Kait Parker Of The Weather Channel Calls Out Breitbart For Shoddy Journalism

Submitted by: fancylad 1 year ago in News & Politics

When Breitbart pieced together an article that falsely-proved global warming is a hoax with footage of Kait Parker Of The Weather Channel, she took to the air to prove their deceptive journalism and fake news in a scientifically-backed two-minute response. The network goes deeper into their explanation for responding to the factually-incorrect Breitbart claims.

I would like to stand in for 5Cats...Seems she's a little off the mark.  Funny, back when I was a kid everyone was all up in arms about global cooling.  Three things that terrified me as a kid.  1) The Red Chinese - Pretty sure they were on ther way to invading the US. 2) Glaciers - Living in upstate NY I was certain that we would be covered first by the glaciers formed by the Next Ice Age that scientists were promising us as a result of global cooling.  3) Quick Sand - Need I say more?   http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2016/12/07/weather-channel-attacks-breitbarts-climate-science-fake-news-climate-change/

1) The Red Chinese. Never fear. Trump's in power. The Red Chinese will be on their way before long. 2) Global cooling. If a prediction was made 40 years ago, and then 40 years' worth of data indicate that that prediction was wrong and a new prediction is made, the sensible thing to do is not to reject all that data so that the original prediction can be retained. The sensible thing to do is to amend the prediction. The idea that a 40 year old theory about global cooling somehow disproves a current theory about global warming is nonsensical. Conspiracy theorists should go back to an argument they've got a better chance of winning, like the moon landings being faked or Mars being made out of anchovies or something. 3) Quick sand. Don't struggle. Stay calm, you'll be fine. BTW got to laugh at Breitbart on your link disproving global warming by showing a load of graphs clearly showing a rise in temperature since 1996. Good work. Keep it up, fellas.

Actually, "global cooling" was somewhat popularized by the media at one time because it was considered more sensational. The majority of scientific papers at the time were already predicting warming. The few that didn't, overestimated the future output and effects of aerosols, and underestimated the effects of CO2 as a greenhouse gas.

I'll weigh in with my 2 cents. I was glad to see this. For the longest time, The Weather Channel stayed on the sidelines regarding climate change misinformation. This last Breitbart piece went too far, and TWC came back swinging. If you take a look at their article, they really take Breitbart to task, using "Claim" and "Truth" paragraphs. Good for them.
