Jeopardy Champ Cindy Stowell Won Six Games Straight, Then Shared Her Devastating News

Submitted by: rumham 10 months ago in Lifestyle

How come the good ones go early? After finishing her winning streak on Jeopardy with a very respectable six games, Cindy Stowell, a 41-year-old science content developer from Austin, passed away on December 5 due to Stage 4 colon cancer. She filmed her winning streak in August knowing that she only had months to live. Her episodes finally aired last week, and Alex Trebek even took time out an episode last week for this heartfelt message.

One of the classiest tributes I've seen.  My wife and I were discussing whether or not they would have her name and year lived on a black background or something like that and were blown away when they actually spent time on her after the credits.  I nearly broke out into tears because of it.  Having her family see her win after her death must be heartbreaking for them.

I watch Jeopardy! everyday. Never cried at it's conclusion, but yesterday when Alex added that tribute to this brave woman at the end....the dam broke. Peace be with the Stowell family.
