Hillary Clinton Officially Scored More Votes Than Any Losing US Presidential Candidate

Submitted by: fancylad 10 months ago in News & Politics

I'm the first person that wishes anyone, but Trump won, but there are certain times when you stop flogging the dead horse, access the situation, and move on. Some people aren't there yet.

Now that the dust has settled and some, if not most, of the votes have been recounted, Hillary Clinton has 4.3 million more votes than Trump when it's all said and done. Of course, the POTUS is determined by the collegiate vote where Trump beat her 306 to 232, we all know this, but some news outlets like Politico are hoping and praying that what happened didn't happen.

I'm going to say what I've been saying since the day after the election: Democrats need to take the next couple years to regroup, find a candidate who they can rally behind, and work towards propping that person up for 2020. Or we can all just vote Fancy in 2020.

I've always wondered what it would take for the right wing to not say they have a "mandate." Now I know that they will always claim a mandate even when they don't get as many votes as the opponent. They probably even think they have a mandate when they lose (silent majority bullshit).

MelCervini The gullibility and stupidity you are displaying is indicative of the reason Trump is our next president. You found some link on some right wing site or someone posted it on facebook. You watched it with no verification, believed it as fact, and spread the misinformation here.

1. The first clip was posted in 2014 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13PRLV2LfBc
2. The dates on the second and third show 9/18/2016. Primary voting concluded on 6/7/2016.
3. The second clip has a Russian flag in the foreground.
4. The second clip is from a BBC story on Russian voting fraud. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsZsnrqmrnk
4. The third clip is from an RT story on Russian voting fraud. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRqEMIdSDGE
5. All four videos show women stuffing the same types of boxes that the Russian clips show, boxes which are not part of our election process.

Well, the population is bigger than ever too...
Just sayin, statistically the 'gross' isn't as important as other potential measures, at least in this case.
Also? Outside of 2 States (CA and NY) Trump got millions more votes than Hillary did. So the system worked exactly as intended :-)

As soon as I read the title, I was thinking the same thing. I'd like to know what percentage of the voters she won vs. past candidates, not the total number of votes.

bliznik She won 48%. That is more than Trump, Romney, McCain, G.W. Bush (the 1st time), Dole, Bill Clinton (the 1st time), or Bush 1 (the 2nd time). Interesting fact, since the 1992 election (7 elections) no Republican candidate has gotten a higher percentage of the popular vote than Hillary did except for G.W. Bush the second time.

bliznik right. No doubt it was a close race though, but the bulk of her support came from 2 States... with large populations.

5Cats By 'right' I mean I wonder what % of votes of the population of the USA he/she got, eh? Of course we know what % of the votes cast were, duh! But compared to the voter turnout of past elections? Compared to the % of the population that voted for (say) Nixon?

1972: Nixon got 60.7% of the vote, MUCH higher than Hillary got, 47.1M votes. It had 55.2% turnout on a population of... 205 million?
2016: Hillary got 48.1%, 65.8 votes total, 55.3% voter turnout of a population of... 324M...
So with ~50% more people? Nixon got around ~70 Million votes, proportionally... see? More.

More garbage statistics from the DNC and MSM to support their Queen! It's like saying we earned more per hour this year than they did in 1926... without adjusting for inflation or cost of living... or taxes...
