A Wisconsin High School Told Its Student Body Four Of Its Students Died

Submitted by: Cajun247 6 months ago in Misc

The student council of Brodhead High school in Brodhead, Wisconsin, in conjunction with the Superintendent, lied to the students about the death of their fellow classmates in order to discourage texting and driving. Watch the video above -- two students in the video announced the death of four classmates after getting in a texting and driving accident. Ten minutes later, they announced that it was a way to get their "don't text and drive" message across. And they don't regret it.

The plan, which just kept going a couple of minutes, was a piece of a wellbeing drill, supported by the school's understudy gathering, to show understudies a lesson about assignment help drinking and driving, as indicated by neighborhood TV channel WMTV.

Yeah, they had a good idea, but a poor execution (pardon my pun). When I was in high school, we had something similar, but it was handled with a lot more tact. We had "death" roaming the halls, complete with a long black cloak and (mock) scythe. "Death" would randomly walk into classrooms, and pick random students to be "dead". The "dead" students wore a sign proclaiming them to be "dead" for the rest of the day, and were not permitted to talk to the rest of the students. Of course, this was a bit before the days of texting and driving, and the program was targeted more toward drinking and driving, but it was at least somewhat effective.

Simply saying that their (the students in the accident) conduct could've killed them would've sufficed. This is OTT BS that's just going to hurt the credibility of the student council and the Superintendent.

If I were a troper I'd file this under "What An Idiot" and/or "Broken Aesop".

This is absolutely disgusting. WTF is wrong with the people running America's schools? I'd say it is because they are liberal-leftists and self-justify every vile thing they do, but...but... oh wait, that IS what the problem is! :-o They've gotten away with it for so long, it takes more and more bad behaviour by them to even get noticed. Deplorable.

@5cats ,I'm a liberal-leftist, very, very left....But even I find this to be every bit as disgusting as you do. Not everything is a left-right issue, buddy. ;) ...A friend of mine was seriously injured about a year ago as a result of being hit by a texting driver (he was on a motorcycle). As a motorcyclist myself, my main road related fear is car drivers texting or talking on their phones. The number of near-misses I've had is staggering. It's a real problem, and it is so in various nations; this aproach, imho is not right, at all. A mock announcement of deaths could, imo, work, but should be preceeded with a warning that it isn't real, that it's a simulation...2c

In a world where everyone needs "safe spaces", you can't do that. (Take a look at the riots because Trump won)

I don't expect intelligence from our high school's anymore, but they still impress me with their ignorance.
