KEXP Had Some Of The Greatest In-Studio Band Performance Of 2016

Submitted by: rumham 11 months ago in Entertainment

KEXP doesn't get the attention KCRW does for booking indie bands on the cusp of greatness, but they're getting there. And if you want to be accurate, you can say the KEXP (a small public radio station based in Seattle, Washington) often books up-and-coming bands before Jason Bentley deems them cool enough to play in live set on "Morning Becomes Eclectic."

So check out some of KEXP's highlight performances of 2016 -- guaranteed you'll find one band you're going to love in 2017.

THE AH-LALAS "Strange Heat"

TACOCAT "You Can't Fire Me, I Quit"

THE THERMALS "Hey You"

BLEACHED "Wednesday Night"

THE DANDY WARHOLS "Hard On For Jesus"

THUNDERPUSSY "Thunderpussy"

TY SEGAL "She Is A Beam"

THE COATHANGERS - "Squeeki Tiki"

PARQUET COURTS "Dust"

WAR ON DRUGS "Red Eyes" (From two years ago, but it's a great performance.)

The only one I watched all of was Thunderpussy as well. Men you know. I liked them all but when did drummers forget how to hold their sticks, especially the left hand?

Yeah, I'm starting to learn that Fancy's (a) a good editor and (b) has one hell of a lot of knowledge about music.

I sampled all of them, but I watched the whole Thunderpussy video.  Great song, the name is kickass, and the visuals ain't too shabby either :D  Love discovering new music!

Out of curiosity, I clicked on "Thunderpussy" (how could I resist?), and it's damned good music. Thanks, Rumham!  :)
