Henry Rollins: Trump's Win Shredded The Veil Of Civility (And Maybe It's About Time)

Some interesting words post-Election 2016 from Henry Rollins. He drops a few open-ended questions, but he makes some interesting points...

An excerpt from his regular column in the LA Weekly:

Being on the ground and moving from place to place during the recent election cycle has been like watching an animal in agony as it slowly dies. When it finally exhaled its last breath yesterday, it occurred to me that now we know everything. All the people who had previously lurked in shadows and back rooms were now out in the open. All was shown and now all is known. America is presently at its most transparent. The veil of civility has been shredded and maybe it’s about time. It’s a rough room, America, but at least we now know where we’re at.

You could say that the Trump presidency will be one of the greatest lessons and cautionary tales of our lifetime. The thing is, obviously, there are millions of people who didn’t see it that way. This whirlwind will be only the trailer for the epic battle that will take place in 2020.

What a fuck-wad. Did he say the same thing about the stupid shit that came out of Obama's mouth when he won? I highly doubt it. Or the "...this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal..." bullshit from Obama's 'Victory Speech'??? NO! He's a smart man, and I have respect for his courage of conviction, but this is pabulum (look it up!), baby-food, weaksauce...

You obviously are not well versed in Rollins. He has been critical of Obama when necessary and quite an independent thinker. But as you have shown in the past, anything that is not the far right is "stupid IAB Libra-tards". I, a strict independent, am sick of your bullshit. You should be mindful that there are other ways of thinking and learn acceptance of that as opposed to belligerence. This is not a time for more division, something Rollins has always spoken about.

I've been 'familiar' with Rollins for decades now, not a follower or studied intensely or anything of course. He's like most musicians or people in the entertainment field: generally left leaning in politics and philosophy, unless it's about their own money! The ultra-conservative, lolz! At least he admits it! He's one of the best in the field of 'modern philosophers' and I said I respect him, I just think he's dead wrong here. I think Rollins would be proud if I called him a fuck-wad right to his face, he'd probably compliment me! Then punch me several times, ouchies! (lolz!) Not time for more division? Have you already forgotten what the ENTIRE Hillary campaign was based on?What 8 years of Obama did? Already the amnesia sets in...

He better be running in 2020.  Having listened to the things he's said in several of his recent interviews, he's got more sense and empathy than any of the candidates that just ran for office.

Metaphorical maybe, but I don't really see him saying anything just a excuse to flap his gums.

It's just unfathomable that somebody doesn't agree with you. How is it possible that somebody doesn't think I'm right? They must be gun toting religious wack jobs...deplorable even! I should not have to share air and land with them. Won't somebody DO something about this?! I need a Spanish latte and some scones.
