How Donald Trump Became The President, According To Michael Moore

At a recent press stop for his new doc “Michael Moore in TrumpLand,” Moore told his audience that he thinks Trump will win, mostly because wealthy, white Americans have distanced themselves so far from the middle class, they're pretty much out of touch these day.

“I know a lot of people in Michigan that are planning to vote for Trump, and they don’t necessarily agree with him,” the left-leaning documentarian said.

Moore argued that many middle- and lower-income Americans are going to support Trump because at least talks their language and brings up issues that touch their day-to-day lives.

Moore continued...

Donald Trump came to the Detroit Economic Club, and stood there in front of the Ford Motor executives, and said, "If you close these factories as you're planning to do in Detroit and build them in Mexico, I'm going to put a 35 percent tariff on those cars when you send them back, and nobody is going to buy them." It was an amazing thing to see. No politician, Republican or Democrat, had ever said anything like that to these executives. And it was music to the ears of people in Michigan and Ohio and Pennsylvania and Wisconsin -- the Brexit states.

Whether Trump means it or not is kind of irrelevant because he's saying the things to people who are hurting. And it's why every beaten-down, nameless, forgotten working stiff, who used to be part of what was called the middle class, loves Trump. He is the human Molotov cocktail that they've been waiting for. The human hand grenade that they can legally throw into the system that stole their lives from them.

And on Nov. 8, Election Day, although they've lost their jobs, although they've been foreclosed on by the bank, next came the divorce and now the wife and kids are gone, the car's been repo'd, they haven't had a real vacation in years, they're stuck with the shitty Obamacare bronze plan, where you can't even get a fucking Percocet. They've essentially lost everything they had, except one thing. The one thing that doesn't cost them a cent and is guaranteed to them by the American Constitution: the right to vote. They might be penniless, they might be homeless, they might be fucked over and fucked up, it doesn't matter. Because it's equalized on that day: a millionaire has the same number of votes as the person without a job, one. And there's more of the former middle class than there are in the millionaire class.

So on Nov. 8, the dispossessed will walk into the voting booth, be handed a ballot, close the curtain, and take that lever or felt pen or touch screen and put a big fucking 'X' in the box by the name of the man who has threatened to upend and overturn the very system that has ruined their lives: Donald J. Trump.

They see that the elites, who ruined their lives, hate Trump. Corporate America hates Trump. Wall Street hates Trump. The career politicians hate Trump. The media hates Trump -- after they loved him, and created him, and now hate him. Thank you, media. The enemy of my enemy is who I'm voting for on Nov. 8. Yes, on Nov. 8, you: Joe Blow, Steve Blow, Bob Blow, Billy Blow, Billy Bob Blow, all the Blows get to go and blow up the whole goddamn system, because it's your right. Trump's election is going to be the biggest 'fuck you' ever recorded in human history.

I don't want the Democrats or Liberals to get in they way of the Conservatives. Don't do what those assholes did to Obama, blocking everything he did. Make the Republican's Govern. Let's see them enact everything. A border wall, Deporting 12 million people hell even 2 million people. Term limits. Replacing Obamacare...EVERYTHING. I want them to own everything so they can't "blame it on "liberals" when shit hits the fan.

So this. Let them have the keys to the kingdom. Do whatever they want for 4 years. Then we're either doing better and I'll be happy in my wrongness or they can shut the fuck up about tax cuts and trickle down economics forever. They won't have liberals to blame anymore.

The last time I saw him was when he was being interviewed by Megyn Kelly. It was pretty funny. He was so smitten by her he could barely talk, like a chubby high school freshman trying to talk to the prettiest cheer leader. And she could see it all the way and got a kick out of it, not what she expected at all. She is beautiful, no doubt.

I can't believe I agree with Moore... I keep saying to my friends; Clinton represented the establishment. America didn't want the establishment. Ergo, Clinton lost. You know who else didn't represent the establishment? Bernie Sanders. The Dems had a perfect way of preserving the White House by getting behind Sanders and they blew it. (Of course Moore won't say that, Moore and the Dems are in each others' pockets.)

Ding DING DING. Problem is this: The DNC is the establishment and well they have a lot of lobbyist that would have been very upset at a Bernie Sanders led Presidency. Can't have someone that actually looks out for the middle and lower class among us. It's time for the DNC to start realizing ( may be impossible, but someone has to take over the DNC that isn't tied down by Wall street) The Elizabeth Warren's Bernie sanders need to be emboldened to take over that party and set them straight.

I'd love to replay this whole scenario except with Sanders going up against Trump.

Trump wouldn't have had anything to attack. He attacked Hillary on her husband's sexual habits, her scandals (false and accurate), and her health. He never really attacked her on her policies. Bernie would have tore him up in the debates even worse than Hillary did. Trump wouldn't have had anything to zing him on.

Thank you Holy God for posting. The biggest thing I pull off this post is the fact Michael Moore admits to voting for Trump! The enemy of my enemy is who I’m voting for on Nov. 8. He wont even admit he is part of the 1%

As much as I dis like Moore what he says here I think is true. I'm not shore if he is saying this is good or bad thing. But its a shoot at the status qua. I think its a good thing and it better work out or we will never see a Republican in the White House again or at least a very long time. Sorry 5cats.

I don't have much of an opinion on Moore, but I'm aware of his work. That said, I agree with you -- Moore makes some interesting points. I know a bunch of people (Facebook acquaintances) who hate what they think America has become and thought Trump will erase everything they dislike. This article is about those people.

FancyLad, Moore is a serial liar, no wonder he loves Hillary so much! No wonder the liberal-left love him, he tells the lies they want to believe in. He deliberately edited his 'documentaries' to falsify what people were saying, there is nothing so vile he won't do it to push his agenda, it seems. So now he says Trump supporters are SO STUPID they believe Trump will fix things overnight? Talk about a strawman! And so unlike all those Obama supporters who believed exactly that! And yet Obama continued most of Bush's policies, the very ones he had campaigned against, funny how no one can remember that eh? :-|

Thanks @casaledana for actually reading it! That's why I posted it. I was shocked that he said it and it seems like exactly what Trump fans have been saying. Moore called Michigan and Wisconsin for Trump a long time ago.

Jeez 5Cats, I think Moore made some good points here. It's basically the reason why Dems voted in Obama in the first place -- change. Read Moore's comments and let us know if you agree or disagree.

FancyLad: I get it already: people who voted for Trump were ignorant, unwashed, dumb, hate-filled, racists and don't deserve to be 'allowed' to vote. I've been hearing that same song for months now, why listen to it yet again? Hillary lost because SHE was a terrible candidate, period. She promised zero change, none, business as usual and even more of the same! The people, mostly the 'middle class' said no, how deplorable of them!

Talk about shitting on the source. Did you even READ the excerpt? i would think you support the sentiment exactly. I think that was the draw of Trump for white blue collar America.

just watched that whole segment from the doc cause i was genuinely curious (and really did support that excerpt especially knowing his up bringing. it basically goes on from there to say that they'll be happy for a day, week or month then regret the decision. comparing nomination to the brexit as if america is leaving america and finally finishing with this (trump) being the last president for some reason. no solutions for these people he just admitted are, and rightfully so, fucked. then jumped into a 'why do you hate hillary' bit. i turned off the hillary ad after that.

Oh ya. No doubt. I was just referring to the excerpt. I'm well aware that Michael Moore goes on to be Michael Moore right after that. However he does have a point. Let's say Trump doesn't build a wall, doesn't defeat ISIS, doesn't fix trade, etc. These people who felt completely abandoned and reached out to an outsider as a last ditch effort may be permanently disenfranchised after that. Hopefully things go well.
