My brother and I grew up around unlocked guns, and our kids have grown up around unlocked guns. Zero incidents. We were all EDUCATED at an early age about gun safety. Its really amazing how well that works. A lock is not a substitute for proper education and training.

Yes, she certainly did make one mistake. Actually, two. One, she did not properly educate her son about gun safety. Two, from the article linked, it sounds like she didn't bother to educate her son about the difference between a toy gun and a real one. Do I make mistakes? Absolutely I do, and I've never claimed otherwise. However, I educated my children from an early age about guns and how dangerous they can be if used or handled improperly, as I was educated. Yes, it appears that I am special: I have common sense. Not too many people seem to these days.

What about her? She was careless and that's the responsibility gun owners assume. I learned my lesson years ago. I knew my handgun wasn't loaded, 110% not loaded. I rack it to make sure and our files a live round. You think you might be careful but until something happens to make you really evaluate your firearm safety you won't learn. Treat every firearm as it is loaded and never let anyone you don't want touching it to have access.

It sounded promising up till it said you can unlock it from your phone. Not only do people lose phones, but there kids have access to them. I don't understand the need for that feature at all. If the gun is in your hands then just use the combo lock, and if it's not then why are you unlocking it?

I can see that as being a useful tool to folks with little kids still romping around or range security perhaps.

Sounds like a great product. I have to think it will save at least one child out there, right? What's not to like?

This isn't for gun control...Did you even watch the video? It's a lock/alert device which is nifty, but I would never use it.

"but I would never use it." no.... really? im fucking shocked! an internet app that is used to control your gun, and you would never use it? why, you must be the only person to think they would never use it. this may be a bit off topic, but when you hear something go over your heard, do you even bother to look up?

Maybe you should have an app that controls your keyboard.
