University of North Carolina Has A "Rapey" Reputation Going On Right Now

It’s been a busy few weeks so maybe I was too preoccupied, but I feel like this recent University of North Carolina rape story has barely gotten any air play? Student Delaney Smith was at a Valentine’s Day party at an apartment on campus when she was allegedly raped by Allen Artis. Delaney immediately had a rape kit done and reported it to the school, as well. But since February 2016, the investigation’s pretty much been ignored. Whether or not Artis is guilty, the unwillingness of the county and school to cooperate in investigating Delaney’s evidence and allegations only adds fuel to the fire. Not to mention the university’s history of slowly dealing with other allegations…

Broadly: “A student at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill held a press conference yesterday to criticize the way the school handled her allegations of being raped by a member of the football team. Nineteen-year-old Delaney Robinson told reporters that UNC junior linebacker Allen Artis assaulted her earlier this year, and, up until yesterday, the university had done nothing to hold him accountable.”

“Robinson's attorney said that despite concluding its investigation three months ago, UNC's Title IX office has not rendered a decision on the case.”

“According to the Huffington Post, UNC has a history with Title IX violations. In 2013, the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights had three open investigations at the school, including one to look into complaints that the university created a hostile environment for victims of sexual assault.“

Fuck the school. They are there to educated you. If you are raped call the police. Stop expecting universities to be mommy and daddy and police and therapist and police and nanny and ........ you get my drift

I would sympathize if there weren't so many false allegations out there. A woman has drunk sex and denies it the next day it's "rape". The man is responsible the woman is not. Ruining the lives of men who just copped a nut with a willing partner.  When women will accept responsibility for their bad choices instead of making criminal offenses I will get behind them and fight with them. Until then....no. If you want "equality" you must accept "responsibility" .... like men do

^^^^^ thanks Gerry as a female Ive literally heard dozens upon dozens of females concocting/plotting/making sure their 'rape' would stand up to criticisms for their "next day guilts".. its bullshit and shouldn't be considered without evidence, period. If Joe AND betty are both drunk.. betty should get the rape charge too.

Nail on the head, Gerry. While I certainly don't condone rape, I also don't condone crying wolf because you had second thoughts after you sobered up a bit. However, this situation illustrates perfectly a very common problem in a school setting; there was practically no investigation by the school, simply because he's a football player (at least thats the most likely reason). While I myself support high school football, I do not believe in preferential treatment for the players. Didn't pass a subject? You don't play. Get caught doing something "unbecoming" in the community (shoplifting, speeding, fighting, etc.)? You don't play. Get rape charges against you? You don't play, unless the charges are proven false by law enforcement (not the school!). Which also raises the question of why the schools are investigating these types of incidents, instead of law enforcement. Of course the school will cover it up; they don't want the bad press! Its really disturbing to me that a high school football player can get away with things, simply because he's a high school football player. I am a volunteer firefighter in a rural county in South Georgia, and we have rules in place that are stricter than those that govern high school football players! Get caught doing something "unbecoming", and we can and will kick you off the department, and you are very unlikely to ever serve as a firefighter again (your reputation will follow you). And we are straight volunteer, with absolutely no compensation!

Stop reporting these situations to the schools, they need to go directly to 911 and the police. Then get a lawyer to protect your rights as the victim and not the other way around. All cases should be handled this way, that way everything can be examined before taking it to trial. I'm so sick and tired of universities getting away with this and letting the suspects walk free while the victim will never be able to walk free within her/his mind ever again.

The question is was she raped? Or did she just change her mind the next day? I'm sorry but women are allowed to put forth false allegations of "rape" because they regret their decisions the night before.  I don't know the details and neither do you. But I am not prepared to make a man pay for the rest of his life on some Sexual Predator list  solely on  the word of one co-ed. This PC shit has got to stop ruining lives.

This is very true. Crimes should be reported to the police.

is it sad this isn't shocking? rape and assault reported but school does nothing. the rape case at USC with their football players has shock value because he filmed it and sent the video to the girl's ex who is a player at a rival school.
