Back to school is a rough time for our WalMart's sporting department. The following August after Colombine, I was working at Wally World and they were hanging Back to school fliers on all the displays including the ammo in sporting goods department. Well the press saw it and ran a nasty article about it in the local paper. Thr store noted the bad press and raked the sporting goods area over the coals about it. It was made worse because they had nothing to do with the flyers, that was done by management.

Sorry, can't hear you, I'm trying to fire up the engines on my Golf-class submarine. You people who are ignoring your water-based security will come to RUE THE DAY you neglected to extend your arms to the watery depths! Dammit, all the switches and dials are notated in Russian. What's Russian for 'fire all torpedoes?'

I'm all for it. Everyone had a gun when I was growing up. You learned from day one to stay away from your dads gun. No one was afraid of them, but everyone had a healthy respect for them.

Is there a line of completely waterproof guns, for use in the shower or pool? Also, what about anti-aircraft weapons? Hasn't the history of warfare demonstrated that achieving air superiority is crucial to victory -- thus the need to prevent such? I demand instant access to tank-piercing armor and flak batteries. Really, where does all this stop? Is Mattel even now working on a Barbie Baretta? Will there be a line of toddler semi-automatics? Damn. I agree with the right to bear arms, but this is getting damned creepy.

you do realize that the 'back to school" was directed at ADULTS going to college/school right? the give away is the giant bold lettering "License to Carry Firearms Class" because you know.. children can't carry yet?

I lived in Texas {past tense}. I carried a gun when I lived there.... Hell my stylist had a gun. No one died. No one accidentally shot a toddler. The only time I ever used it was when I was being mugged at the park. He demanded my wallet and gold chain.... I reached back as if to get the wallet and pulled the gun. He left quietly and I did not lose the cross on t he chain my mother was wearing when she died. .... Not every gun kills. Mine was unloaded but it was good bluff.

Yeah, I live in Texas and nearly everyone I know carries, some legally, some not.  Haven't had any shootings around me or on my side of town recently that I can think of.  Probably because the would-be shooters are too scared of getting shot.
