So this is an old story but a new story, but an old story. The U.S. lost nearly a million jobs to NAFTA and the third world country "super friends" beginning in the 90s. Then uh… 2001 and that shit happened. And then more jobs went overseas. Call centers, more manufacturers, tech jobs… you know, the American economy - no big deal. But now our oldest and dearest job killing friend has come back to finish us off. Automation.
Maybe the Switzerland's basic income experiment will favor us because if not then the road ahead is going to be paved in what I can only assume will be exactly like "Mad Max" meets the "Terminator" meets "28 Days Later" meets none of the Hollywood glamor...
"Nov 2015 - Eighty million U.S. jobs are at risk from automation, a central bank official said Thursday.
Bank of England chief economist Andy Haldane, speaking at the Trades Union Congress in London, said 80 million U.S. and 15 million U.K. jobs are in danger of being taken over by robots."
