The Grand "Old" Party needs to tap it's younger leadership to get a viable candidate. The old church lines they spew don't work on the young. Too many young republicans have gay family members, and even moderate tendencies themselves. That's why Trump got this far - republican leadership is out of touch with constituents

@Gerry1of1 Correct. Most of America, (the silent majority) are socially liberal, fiscally conservative. The GOP is firmly Conservative everything right now. That doesn't jive with the populace. Has nothing to do with "liberal" schools or whatever other bullshit excuse you hear in the right wing bubble. It's common sense. But then again they are currently the anti intellectual party so nothing makes sense to them.

@normalfreak2 You're right the gop is self destructing... Trump has taken the usual gop rhetoric to it's natural ends. He is the monster that they created, nothing more.

I'm no great fan of the GOP but I wouldn't say they created him. I'd say that, against their better judgement, they've gotten stuck with him because of the Republican voting populace.

@broizfam I'm not absolving the GOP. I've posted multiple articles on how the GOP got to where they are currently. They flirted with "hate" radio like Rush Limbaugh, ALex Jones, Webb, and all of the other Looney tunes that are on right wing talk radio/media. They flirted with racist undertones, and us vs them. These people shaped the electorate they now have. The for profit media created them, the GOP did nothing but allow the teabagger movement to thrive and flourish. Nothing wrong with new groups/voices getting into the political system except what they courted was xenophobic, religious, freedom hating d-bags that want an Authoritarian Dictator as their leader.

A veteran, injured in war, gives you his purple heart what do you do (especially if you dodged the draft 6 times)? Option A: Thank him for his sacrifice and service, tell him how honored you are by the gesture, but tell him you could not possibly take something that meaningful that he had earned in the defense of this great country. Option B: Take it, smirk on stage and say "I always wanted to get the Purple Heart. This was much easier". I can't imagine something more offensive to veterans. HOW THE FUCK ARE YOU PEOPLE STILL SUPPORTING THIS GUY?

GOP is self destructing. They need to get rid of the religious right and stick to being progressive leaning Conservatives. (IE MODERATES)

Socially liberal & economically conservative. I'd vote for that.
