Rush Limbaugh Disproves Evolution Because Gorillas Are Still Gorillas

Rush Limbaugh has some interesting views on evolution. On his Tuesday talk show, he brought up the controversial Cincinnati zoo gorilla killing -- the one I-A-B covered extensively -- the story of Harambe being shot after a 4-year-old boy fell into its living environment.

Rush said if evolution really exist, the incident would've never happened because if it did, Harambe would've evolved into a human being and never would have been a captive animal in the first place.

From Rush's website transcript:

“A lot of people think that all of us used to be apes. Don’t doubt me on this. A lot of people think that all of us used to be gorillas, and they’re looking for the missing link out there. The evolution crowd. They think we were originally apes… If we were the original apes, then how come Harambe is still an ape, and how come he didn’t become one of us?“All I know is I’ve never been a chimpanzee, I don’t believe this garbage I ever was because we were chimpanzee, why are the chimpanzees still here?” Limbaugh asked in 2004. “If we were baboons, you know, if we evolved from that, what happened to them? Why didn’t they evolve? How come they got stuck still being idiot gorillas and stuff and we got to be humans?”

Side bar: In severely depressing news Rush Limbaugh has around 20 million listeners and makes $50 million a year.

I imagine the 'board' ZigRat mentions was composed entirely of fat football coaches, a few sour-faced church ladies, and a couple of generic balding butt-heads, all of whom are barely literate. In other words -- Texas?

IIn all the local schools in my area, the teaching of evolution was stopped, the board said it was an unproven theory and therefore they would not teach it. Instead they started using a text called "Pandas and People" a pseudo science text that boasts the theory of Creation and intelligent design because the board stated it was more "Provable" by all the scientific data. WTF??? THIS IS WHY THE us IS DECLINING INTELLECTUALLY

No wonder Rump Limpblob is the spokesidiot for some many clueless Repugs. He should stick to gobbling down Cheese-Its and prescription painkillers, and leave the talking to people with IQs that exceed room temperature. But then he'd lose his audience, wouldn't he?

The problem I have is how anyone- even if Limbaugh has it as a running gag- anyone who is under 75 and has ears, a brain and can tie shoelaces could possibly think like that?

I don't know if anyone is familiar with IAG? It attempts to provide ammunition for creationist arguments and claims to be a bit science. Haven't been there in years but it used to have a "Please stop using these arguments" section where they would present arguments which had once been seen as soxdollagers against evolutionists but were now just embarrassing. This was one of them, quite early on. Another was Second Law of Thermodynimics. It got to be quite a large section. Basically a list of busted arguments to avoid if you don't want to look like a total babbling yokel. Not everyone got the memo.

Lolz, nice one LordJim: Here It Is :-) I didn't find their "stop saying that dumb stuff" page, though. >>> The 2nd Law of Thermodynamics? That doesn't disprove evolution... oy! Anyhow, there really are people who believe that stuff, and they are wrong. I'm quite certain the vast majority of Christians believe in Evolution... even if it's "God Driven" or something... We Deists believe it's a fact.

I think he needs to visit a farm or an agricultural School. The easiest example of evolution is in domestication of animals. Do the domestication pigs now have 7 more vertebrae than previous wild boars do

Believe as you will, Rush and most of the Right actually have this view. This is not satire; it is their argument against evolution. Asinine!

If you ask me I'd said that Rush has devolved from gorillas.

Listening to the clip on the link, it seems to me he is making fun of the "if we evolved from monkeys why are there still monkey" crowd. This is the biggest fucking straw man in existence, for the simple fact that no where in the Theory of Evolution does it claim man evolved from monkeys, apes, gorillas etc.

He's not making fun of the people that believe that @grendel no matter how much @5Cats is trying to twist it, he truly believes it. He has repeatedly said things along those lines. From 2004: "All I know is I've never been a chimpanzee, I don't believe this garbage I ever was, because we were chimpanzee, why are the chimpanzees still here? If we were baboons, you know, if we evolved from that, what happened to them? Why didn't they evolve, how come they got stuck still being idiot gorillas and stuff and we got to be humans?"

Exactly Grendel! It's a running joke? IDK. So many liberals repeat it over and over, like a mantra. >>>Sure, some few people believe in literal creation theory, and that Darwin is disproven. Who cares? Many liberals believe Bush destroyed the Towers, and that fire cannot melt steel, or the Jews did it... yet we never claim EVERY Democrat or liberal believes those things. :-/

That is not a 'transcript' of what Rush said. It is a transcript of the CHERRY PICKED portion from that SHORT video there. Actual Transcript HERE It seems to me that he and whoever else was talking were, in fact, joking. And of course the humourless leftist drones cannot figure that out... Even if he was serious? So what? ONE MAN blackens the entirety of "conservatism" now? Fuck that shit... >>> So he has some listeners? So what again? Does each and every one of them automatically agree with each and every word he says? No one can be dumb enough to believe THAT eh? Not even the IAB Liberal Brigade can be THAT dumb... again that's ASSUMING he's being serious: not joking (many snickers & giggles occur during that portion of the actual transcript...) as it seems to me (who never listens to his show BTW, I mention before the waves of attacks roll in) he is.

@5Cats "who never listens to his show BTW" you may not listen to his show but man do you take your marching orders from him. Here's how it works: A. Rush says something. B. Fox News, Drudge, The Post, the WSJ, etc run with it. C. It trickles down into the right-wing bullshit blogoshpere on sites like AmericanThinker.com. D. You come regurgitate the vomit all over IAB.

@5Cats its nice to know you can still surprise me with how low you are willing to go. 1. " CHERRY PICKED portion" Cherry picking is taking a few words or lines out of context. This is the entire paragraph verbatim. 2. "It seems to me that he and whoever else was talking were, in fact, joking" Well, I have read the complete transcript you posted and not only can I not see how it could POSSIBLY seem like he is joking, I can't even see how it could seem that way to your 5Cats brain. Also, he has made NUMEROUS anti evolution comments before. He is NOT joking. 3. "ONE MAN blackens the entirety of "conservatism" now?" Rush is not just one man. Rush is if not THE, easily on of the top 10 most influential voices of conservatism.

So I checked out the link. I actually agree with much of what he said about the zoo event, though I think he's too busy blaming anything in the world that he doesn't like on liberals, like you do by the way - just lumping us all together as if we all agree completely with each other, and exactly what you object to (appropriately, by the way) when liberals do that to conservatives, but I couldn't listen to the clip since it was removed.

1) Thank you. I'm going to take a look at that transcript. I certainly hope he was joking since the alternative is so completely stupid. 2) I don't believe anyone here suggested that this "blackened the entirety of conservatism". I should point out, here, that anything ANY self described liberal says has, historically, ALWAYS blackened the entirety of liberalism for you so you have no right to complain about the reverse happening. 3) Even after looking at that site that supposedly tells how to place links, I STILL HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO DO THAT! It's starting to piss me off. Why can't they just give us something to click on for posting links and pics like there was in the I-A-B of old?...Fancylad - you there?

1: YW Broizfam. I put it in submissions too. Even if he thinks that? He's just 1 guy. I think it's a "running gag" on his show? And he's got some PETA person on the on the line when he says it, and is just yanking her chain. 2: I am constantly told that at IAB. That I get ALL my information from Faux News (which I do not watch) and ALL my opinions from Rush (who I never listen to) and so does EVERY conservative alive. 3: Coply the link format from the site, paste it here. Where it says Text? Type what should appear to name the link. Where it says url? Paste the desired site's address there. Presto! :-) I read that they are working on getting a new system, Disqus or improvements to this one...

Topics: Rush, evolution, gorillas. Sources: the OP, the Mediamatters website. >>> Show me where I "attacked" either source here. I place a valid criticism ON TOPIC of MM's representation of the topic. Compare that to me being personally attacked for posting something, NO MENTION at all of the topic, this happens constantly. Or the internet Source (Beitbart, wattsupwiththat, the Daily Mail, whatever...) is attacked without any reference to the topic presented. Even if AP or Reuters or the NYT is the originating source? Because The DailyCaller posted an article about the Topic? it MUST be a lie!! This is a common Logical Fallacy, to dismiss the message based on the messenger. But it is indeed a Fallacy. >>> However: you are being an asshole over it if you remain SILENT all those other times, and falsely accuse me of it HERE. Just fyi... that "explained enough" for you?

If white people evolved from black people then why do black people still exist; if land creatures evolved from sea creatures then why do sea creatures still exist, etc.? It's easy to deny evolution when you're purposefully ignorant of what it means, isn't it? If you prefer to accept Creation, okay, but don't publically prove yourself to be a complete and utter jackass by making proclamations that reveal your thorough ignorance of the scientific principle you're attempting to debunk.
