If You Insult The Turkish President, You're Going To Jail

In another, “Thank fuck I live in a country with actual free speech” moment, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the same bozo who said childless women are deficient earlier this month, went after the Turkish labor head after claiming she "insulted him," almost a full year ago.

Turkey has to know how asinine this shit looks to the outside world. The whole point of being a leader is to listen to criticism and insults and improve your country based on those complaints. That is literally half of your job! That’s like signing up to be a mall Santa and punishing children for asking for presents. What the fuck is wrong with Turkey?

Police detained Çerkezoğlu at Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen Airport as she was due to depart for Germany. She was later released after giving her testimony to the prosecutor. A lawsuit had been filed for Çerkezoğlu in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır on charges of ‘insulting the president.’ DİSK head Kani Beko said Çerkezoğlu was detained for a speech she delivered some time ago.”

“Cases of 'insulting' Erdoğan are based on Article 299 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK), which states that anyone convicted of insulting the president should serve a prison term of between one and four years. More than 1,800 cases have been started against people accused of insulting Erdoğan since he came to office in 2014, Justice Minister Bekir Bozdağ announced. Those who have gone on trial include celebrities, journalists, activists and even schoolchildren.”

I say Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is an ass-licking douchebag with a fondness for buggery and goats. Your move, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan (aka 'Goat Boy).

Erdogan 'asked' Turks living in the Netherlands (with a Dutch passport) In the Netherlands to tell the Turkish consulate who in the Netherlands said negative things about Erdogan. In April this year the Dutch-Turkish columnist Ebru Umar was detained several weeks when she was visiting family in Turkey. Detained and questioned for being critical about Erdogan's regime. And this is a country that the EU commission wants to join the EU. And everyone is wondering why a lot of Europeans want their country to leave the EU.
