Researchers believe they’ve found evidence showing humans are incapable of having more than five close friends. This news comes as relief to this writer because, misanthropy. The University of Oxford and Aalto University School of Science studied the relation of brain size to the quantity and quality of relationships revealing an individual tendency towards having four to five very good friends and up to 150… mehs.

According to the study, the bigger the brain, the greater amount of relations. They say humans have the ability to have layers of friends starting with a close circle of 4-5 individuals, then branching out to 15, 50 and eventually 150.

Yeah, I never have more than one or two friends. Then again, friendship is like a candle. It always seems to burn out after a couple years.

Where do you get your candles? But seriously mate, it takes time and it helps if you go through stuff. Definition of a good mate? At least one of has cried in front of the other and you are both perfectly comfortable with that. Other definitions apply.

Five sounds about right as a maximum. I have three (used to be four but one died and you can't really promote someone. Which means one of us will eventually be Billy-No-Mates.) About 15 I'm happy to bump into and have a chat. About 30 I smile at and greet in the street but I don't know anything much about them.

I'll take this study one step further. I say you can only really tolerate more than 5 people at any given stage in your life. That's how it is for me anyway. Oh sure, I can tolerate of lot of people in my daily life, but would I want to have a drink or share a spliff with them? No. How about a road trip? Nope. I can literally count on one hand the people I want to spend time with. Of course, I'm great with strangers -- if there's ever another I-A-B meet-up, I'm there and I'd have a great time. But the day-in-day-out people I'm forced to spend my day at the office with? There are literally 3 people. Family? Probably 3 people there too.

I don’t even think about people till that day and time we see one another. Even my closest bffs I tend to loath from a distance and love in person. That said, I’ll take a road trip with edibles for my glaucoma or drink with almost anyone. I really like interaction in short bursts. But if I did have to think about it, I do have maybe five close friends. I just never talk to them. - See more at: http://www.i-am-bored.com/members/lalapancakes/#sthash.P2vuEMrl.dpuf
