Military Times Survey: Troops Prefer Trump To Clinton By A Huge Margin

Submitted by: trimble 1 year ago in News & Politics

In a recent survey, 54 percent of 951 active-duty enlisted soldiers in the U.S. military said they will be voting for Trump as President of the United States -- if you do the math, that's 2-to-1 over Hillary Clinton.

The article these numbers come from go into reasons why Trump is the military man's (and woman's) choice, but it the numbers mostly come down to party loyalty.

Time for a third party, right?

well what would be the alternative? Have a commander in chief who could not be bothered to wake up and send some marines to Benghazi to save diplomats that she was responsible for? AND then lie about it!

How do you expect this poll to be accurate when Bernie is still in the race? The more revealing question to ask after Bernie has conceded and endorsed Hillary would be, "Which presidential candidate do you believe will keep us OUT of war." Yes, Clinton's time as Secretary of State was boring but that is what you want for that position. It means she did her job helping to keep us out of war.

I imagine Trump would lead in that poll as well, maybe by even more. Everyone (well just about everyone) knows a drunk-with-power Hillary Clinton would war with anyone she could.

I thought Bernie packed it in already? Ah well. >>> Boring? With the highest loss of life for US Troops in Afghanistan? With drone strikes everywhere? IDK if I'd call that boring. And Hillary supported both invasions before she was against them :-/ as soon as it became politically expedient for her, she flipped. And y'all did invade a sovereign nation (war) and topple a few elected leaders... business as usual, except for the press coverage.

Middle class and poor conservatives vote against their own financial interest. I guess that carries over to the military where they vote against their own well being. Astonishes me that they consistently support the party that sends them into harms way and cuts their funding.

Trump want to stop foreign soldier deployment, or something to that effect. If I was a soldier, I would back trump over warleader hillary.

But how will we destroy all those terrorists AND their families? Ask them to scooch together for the cruise missile?

I kind of agree with you since I never answer them truthfully but I'd be willing to bet you love them when they favor someone you support.

@trimble Nope. I have a serious problem with how "polls" are generated. For instance why isn't Gary Johnson on any major poll? He's on all 50 state ballots for President. The "polls" i'm willing to bet have their pockets filled with D and R's hands.

Of course, believe me, you don't have to tell me how the D's, R's and MSM work hard to keep third parties out of the mix.

This would be because Hillary is a bare-faced liar, a cheat and a thief. Military persons tend to "frown upon" such characteristics. >>>AND she got the USA involved in many of it's current wars where those in uniform pay the blood price, while she sits on her fat ass claiming no responsibility & making $10 million bucks a year... >>> It's kind of sad there's such a large number of "non voters" I do hope they're actually those who haven't made their minds up yet. Military persons have traditionally backed Republicans, BTW... perhaps not by this much though!

The military has historically voted Republican by margins as much as this. http://www.newsmax.com/US/obama-romney-military-vote/2012/10/08/id/459090/ I agree with you that Hillary has screwed up, but I think this is more due to the fact that Dems are seen as "anti-military" and Reps are seen as "pro-military." Especially after the Kuwait and Iraq wars.

Common sense? Don't try to respond to @5Cats with common sense. He doesn't speak that language. This is party lines pure and simple no matter how much a loop of "death to hillary" runs in his little head.
