It`s disheartening how people just don`t want to believe that animals share all of our emotions and intentions; including altruism.

When I was a kid, saw this on the end bit of the news.
Hippos and crocs are natural enemies over the water they have to share.
A croc had gotten hold of an antelopes legs and was trying to pull it in.
The hippo came charging in from the land, stomped on the croc till it let go of the antelope.
So far so instinctive?
Then the hippo stood and nudged the antelope (who had a died, of an heart attack, I presume. What with the croc and hippo fighting over it)
Hippo gently tried to get it up to leave for quite some time, before it gave up.
The croc came and got the antelope anyway.
Am sure there is a vid of that still around.

I have been to Africa and lived in the bush for three months. Even the wildest bunch exhibit behavior that is very familiar to us.

I think it`s obvious that bear has plenty of food

I think it`s more plausible that the bear was pulling it out to save for later. You can see some meat, sitting on the rock. The keepers probably throw the food in and, when it falls in the water, the bear pulls it out and sets it aside. The bear probably assumed the crow was food, thrown in for later.

It really makes you wonder if the bear knew what it was doing or was it attempting to play? I really think the bear did see distress and attempted to help. Can`t really know what the bear`s motivations were but still interesting.
