Given what little Walmart employees are paid, and the lousy benefits(Those lucky few that get `em), and given the types of... Dare I say `people` that bring their custom there- is it really a surprise?

One should not be calling a department store just to ask "do you have this, or that." I mean, something like breaking bad, or BBT, it might be easy enough just to say "yeah, we have that" but something like specific printer cartridge... bring your ass into the store. It`s not "bad customer service" it`s more "not their job unless you are in the store as well." Of course, maybe it`s different in the US, and easier if the store uses a computer system to track stock (which a person can also usually check online).

"...bring your ass into the store"

Uhm.. did anyone even think to look on-line?

If you enter your zipcode the Wal*Mart website will tell you if it`s in the store or not.

"Consumers Distributing was one of the first to initiate this "real time" stock check and prepayment of products available at other branches and the main warehouse. These initiatives, including the superstore expansion, costly free delivery, and costly new inventory management software, overextended the company.

This, and increasing competition, changes in retailing (such as warehouse format stores) in the retail sector, deflation in several product categories, including jewellery and electronics, a deep lingering recession and the expansion of Walmart into Canada contributed to the company`s bankruptcy in 1996."
