The SR-71 was first acknowledged in 1962 but the first prototype recognizable as a "Blackbird" was airborne in 1956, long before the Valkyrie flew.

Once again Crakr is blowing made up bullschitt out of his butthole like the good conservatard that he is.

I worked at the Skunkworks in the 80`s dude. You`re effing clueless.

What changed was, this was the beginnings of what is called "super cruise" now. That`s supersonic flight without the need for afterburners.

It was also the first to use what is called "compression lift", which would save fuel. The XB-70 also tested out the panels that would eventually be integral to the SR-71 Blackbird for heat tolerance.

This plane was truly ahead of it`s time and had the potential to shorten the cold war.

That was by far the most beautiful bomber ever built. When I went to the NMUSAF last year the surviving plane was not on display due to the shut down.
