United States abandons gold standard in 1971*

It`s interesting they have nothing on the dismal history that countries have when they debase their currencies.

Also, they have nothing on currency wars. The first currency war in the 20s and 30s and the next in the 70s are kind of a big deal. The first currency war actually caused the collapse in international trade that led to the Great Depression.

@auburnjunky- yeah bitcoins are more then a little mind bending. It took me multiple study sessions to understand them somewhat. He goes a brief idk... The stability of a money type is in the ability to defend it from fraud and ensure it`s authenticity. The value of money is in the public`s perception of the stability and steadfastness of the issuer. So, fraud and inflation are the two enemies of money systems. Bitcoin is an attempt to manage this. The govs are worried because people put their money where their faith is. Also, one of the key points of money creation is that it allows for taxation without diminishing the asset.

Now the Fed just creates money out of thin air and uses it to buy up new government debt instruments at 0% interest. Hint: this can`t go on forever.

Fun fact: I draw little pictures of stick-kitties, and people give me money.
