Steadfast conservative. However, I disagreed in a few areas.

"Too much power is concentrated in the hands of a few large companies,"
Mega corporations are too big BECAUSE of too much government intervention, not in spite of it.

"Problems in the world would be even worse without U.S. involvement,"
So, things would have been BETTER if we`d stayed home and let Hitler overrun Europe? Whatever you say, Sparky.

"It IS NOT necessary to believe in God in order to be moral and have good values,"
I don`t need a god to behave morally, but I also agree that the fear of God is the only thing keeping some people from mugging old folks and raping babies.

"Homosexuality should be accepted by society,"
Actually, I don`t believe "society" should have any means to reject it.

Meh... I don`t like that it only gives you the option of choosing one extreme or the other.

"People get rich through luck and not hard work. People take advantage of people through lobbyists and policy. This isn`t fair to small business owners who are working for what they have."

Small businesses have a lot of disadvantages, but the biggest is access to capital. If you want to expand, the banks will want a colonoscopy level of an audit and months of review before they loosen their tightwad grip.

Solid Liberal. I didnt answer a few of the q`s since they were skewed toward ignorance. I didnt answer the immigrant questions since I feel that immigration into the USA is used by business to keep wages and opportunity down for American citizens. Meaning, Americans can`t afford to raise children and afford a proper education considering low wages and diminished opportunities. The USA needs the population to either remain stagnant or grow in order to keep the capitalist rate of return the same or higher. In my opinion the immigration discussion is a farce and ignores a larger problem, the lower quality of life and wages for the average USA citizen.

Solid liberal for me- but as I am not a US citizen that probably skews things a bit. Having said that I don`t think this quite covered it simply because whilst I think government should have strong regulatory powers it should not impact too much on personal freedoms. It`s the harm thing- if I want to do something that impacts only me I should be free to do it- get as pissed as a fart at home etc- but when I decide to drive I become a harm.

My problem with big business is more to do with wall street, and how investments are handled. People get rich through luck and not hard work. People take advantage of people through lobbyists and policy. This isn`t fair to small business owners who are working for what they have.

My problem with welfare is that I work with people who abuse the welfare system. Hell, some of them are better off than me, and no one seems to care.

Steadfast Republican:
This overwhelmingly Republican group holds very conservative attitudes across most issues, including social policy and the size and scope of government. However, they generally are critical of business and Wall Street. Overall, Steadfast Conservatives also express highly negative attitudes toward immigrants and take a skeptical view of U.S. global involvement.

The problem with this description is that I support gay rights.

My views on immigration are not xenophobic, but rather skewed because my wife worked in immigration, and the problem is not with legal immigrants, it is with illegal immigrants. Legal immigration encourages social growth and development. Mexicans crossing the border to pick fruit and veggies for 3 dollars a day or whatever hurts the economy.

Interesting, though the questions are really a bit flawed at times. The last question, for instance, is phrased as though talking about illegal immigrants, but only uses the word immigrants. Depending on which way the question is read changes my answer completely.

The qualifier `most` throughout it is troubling as well, because it forces one to perhaps side with a disagreeable choice. Too many of the questions were ones where neither choice represented my views.

"Next Generation Left" for me apparently. Just left of centre. The description pretty much nailed me.

"Generally young, well-educated and financially comfortable, the Next Generation Left have very liberal attitudes on many issues, including homosexuality, abortion, the environment and foreign policy. While overall supportive of an activist government, most are wary of expanding the social safety net. Most also have relatively positive views of Wall Street’s impact on the economy. While most affiliate with the Democratic Party or lean Democratic, few consider themselves strong Democrats. Compare groups on key issues."

Like most, this quiz assumes that the world is made up of Democrats and Republicans. Completely lost are the libertarians (who tend to agree with Dems on some issues and Repubs on others).

For example, it asks you to choose between: "the poor have it easy because of government benefits," and "the poor need more government benefits."

Libertarians would tend to answer, "government benefits, as designed, are largely responsible for keeping the poor poor."
