Drawman - Funny you say that. From what I see here, it`s always the europeans telling us what we do over here is wrong. IAB is filled with euros bashing America. How often is it the other way around? Arrogant Jerk.

Often. McGovern1981 has nearly 13000 posts, so that`s probably at least 5000 right there.

I have often wondered, with the way some of our European members speak so poorly of us, why they come - day after day - to an American site. Can anyone explain this? Serious question.

    Well, look at this.
Mention europe and and the fur flies.

There are constant putdowns of America here, but you don`t see all the IAB Americans freak out like you do when someone mentions europe.

Just look at this thread. You all can`t take criticism. You are defending the same guy who hates America soo much, he denies the moon landing because America did it.

You guys are an arrogant lot. Take the criticism.

This is actually a common mistake that happens on tv (especially news shows) and in sci-fi books all the time.

Plus, it`s only wrong if it was, in fact, meant to represent the Earth as seen from space.

If, on the other hand, it represents a model globe in someone`s office, why those things can be turned in both directions.

    It IS funny, though.

If it was justified, or even rational, I would.

It isn`t. You`re just spewing in the general direction of your target, splattering everyone nearby.

And no, I am not defending drawman61. He`s being just as bad as McGovern1981.

I imagine they don`t see it as an American site. There`s less nationality online - a site can be hosted pretty much anywhere without changing and users don`t need to know a physical location.

Maybe some are trolling - if so, it`s certainly working for them given the furious reaction that`s so common here.

All we have to do is wind a rope round the equator a number of times, wrap the other end round the moon and pull really hard. Simple!

Changing the direction of rotation would cause a few minor problems, like everything whizzing off at up to ~2000 mph, but hey, free travel without any emissions :)

Yeah, but a larger contra-rotating sphere splits in half revealing a hollow center that contains the wrong way spinning globe first.... but only the one detail strikes you as scientifically incorrect?

I love ya Neil, but don`t be so nit-picky.
It`s a motion graphic, not a science lesson.

Naughty, naughty turdburglar, calling Angilion a bore. I find many of his post quite entertaining, well written and informative.
On the other hand, I also find McGovern`s posts entertaining, albeit not exactly for the same reasons.

Hey! What`s with all this bashing of my next door neighbour? We buddies, even if we`re careful not to piss them off (they often pack heat). I don`t care if one of two globes turns the wrong way on a TV show intro.

It`s only spinning the wrong way if the observer is stationary with respect to the earth.

He also didn`t complain that the earth doesn`t break into two halves, like the first globe does :)

I interpreted the first globe as a symbolic representation of the solar system. You could have that rotating either way, since it would just be a matter of the position of the observer. Ah no, we have the position of the observer in that case - they`re on the same plane as the Earth and north on the Earth is up to the observer.

I`ve just looked at it again to check and noticed that it rotates in different directions and splits in half in the middle. How did I not notice that before? So it`s probably not a representation of the solar system :)
