Many years ago, I had an article published in a national magazine. I took it to the copy shop across from the college, handed it to the kid behind the counter and asked for 10 copies.

He said, "I can`t copy any copyrighted material."

I said, "Yes you can. I own the copyright."

He asked, "What do you mean, you own it?"

I pointed at the byline and asked, "Do you see that name?" Then I pulled out my driver`s license and asked, "Do you see that name? They`re the same. I wrote the article, so I own the rights to it. I can make all the copies of it I like."

He replied, "Yeah, but it`s still copyrighted."

Finally I asked, "Can I talk to the manager?"

He said, "I am the manager."

At that point, I gave up and went to another copy shop.

This is very common issue today with gaming videos. Companies can take down all criticism and leave all the reviewers that kiss their behinds.. YouTube policy is currently "guilty until proven".. Some pretty famous reviewers and gamers have had dozens of videos taken out, having their accounts then suspended because of too many copyright claims. It can take up to two months to get you cleared. In the meanwhile, you can find full movies that are for months. TV shows, all kinds of actually copyrighted stuff that violate their rules. It is the little guys who suffers the most, honest and reputable people. I`ve seen people who have made their 7th accounts, uploaded full seasons, get taken down and those videos are up the next day on their 8th account..

Welcome to corporacy. If you let TPP and TTIP to come in to fruition, this is what our countries will be like in real life..
Don`t you need to put in a request for that to be pulled before they pull it?
Apparently not - Youtube has some automation when it comes to blocking.

Even if there was a request generated by a person, that doesn`t mean that the request comes from a person who`s actually looked at the video they`re requesting a block on.

You also have to watch out for motherf*ckers trying to scam you on Youtube. A few months ago I got an email saying some company (can`t remember the name and don`t feel like looking it up) flagged a video of mine for copyright infringement. I knew it was bullsh*t right away because it was an unlisted video of me playing some guitar riffs I wrote and posted to share with my bandmates and was therefore my intellectual property. I disputed the claim and Youtube responded telling me that it happens quite often actually. Some people/companies will just go around claiming sh*t as theirs thinking people won`t bother to dispute it.
