Sorry, they were warned. A good lesson to welcome them to the real world.

    Reversed. Punishment did not fit.
It`s always a good idea to pick on the harmless practicing their harmlessness, isn`t it?

I dont see how they can legally do that. What if the students dont apologize do they have to take their senior year over? LOL

    >>>called their actions disrespectful.<<<

I suspect that the administrators involved do not really understand the meaning of the word.

This. This is one of the reasons why the polarizing of America is getting so intense. We have a cross section of people who are so concerned with other people`s safety down to the slightest bump or scrape that they are willing to ruin the future of a bunch of high school kids just to enforce a rule/warning that was ridiculousness incarnate. Whether they retracted the punishment or not, had people not pushed back at this idiocy, they really thought they were doing what was right and necessary for "the good of the people." Just plain nuts.

I think the rule was dumb and silly etc, but will defend their right to enforce it. The kids were warned, they disregarded. We should not get to decide which rules are silly.

Love the "Home of the rebels" tag in the picture. Teachers are so ironic.

Everybody calm down. Their future is not being "ruined"! There is no legal concern. It is not that they don`t graduate, they just don`t get the piece of paper. If you don`t like their rules, why do you want their paper? Like I said, the rule is silly. I didn`t even bother going to my ceremony, I was happy to be outta there.

I don`t think tossing caps is so bad.

Well unless Caps is the nickname of the janitor.

This sort of Gestapo school admin. bullsh|t has to go. I say these parents need to lawyer up and sue this school. The kids are the ones that should be apologized too.

My school tried to deny one of my classmates his diploma because he wore a bandana under his cap. He wore a bandana for years and they never once told him he couldn`t, until graduation day. He did get his diploma, after his mom threatened to sue them.

when i graduated we were "warned" not to toss our caps or they would withhold our diplomas too.

didn`t work. we tossed our caps and when they actually tried to do anything about it, all of the parents from the school district wanted to sue for 4 years of school fees and such they spent.

I`ve got a better thing to ban at graduation ceremonies. How about ejecting all the family members/friends in the audience who can`t grasp the concept of manners, and feel the need to scream and shout when "their" grad`s name is called, after they were politely asked to hold all applause until after the ceremony is over. Eject them, hold the grad`s diploma, or both. Rude, inconsiderate idiots, with no respect for their graduate, themselves, or anyone else. I`m proud of the graduate as everyone else, but I have enough manners and consideration to not act like an idiot about it.

No one is ever going to ask to see the diplomas.
