I`d be interested in knowing what you used as a definition of `job`, as I know jobs that make less, but of course they`re part time, extremely low-skill jobs.

I also know of jobs that pay less that require extreme knowledge and/or skill. But they`re jobs people take in addition to their main job. (example: contributor to textbooks. You may only contribute a small portion, and will be paid accordingly).

Kinda disturbing the people who prep our food are the ones that get paid the lowest, which in turn helps the doctors get rich because of the lack of work ethic due to the low pay..... she be a vicious circle.

That has NOTHING to do with this. Unless your point was most business owners are greedy and don`t pay their employees a "fair" amount based on companies profits. That`s what is to blame here.

I`ll bet that if these jobs paid double what they currently do, most people still wouldn`t want to work them. That`s the single biggest issue I have with those who like to point out that these jobs don`t require a lot of skill or education. So what? They suck, they`re monotonous and tedious, and people treat you like s(h)it and look down their noses at you.

The only reason people work them now is out of desperation. According to the DOL, there are not enough decent paying jobs available for everyone in the labor pool. Guess what that means? It means that no matter what, some people will be stuck working these crap jobs. God knows I worked a few in my teenage years; you couldn`t pay me enough to go back to them.

As always, it`s about the people at the top exploiting everyone else, and squeezing as much out of people as possible for their own selfish and greedy gain.

Yea, I guess it`s always easier to blame other people. It`s work, and it`s honest work and I have yet to meet anybody in life that feels they get paid what they are worth.

Fatninja01-which in turn helps the doctors get rich because of the lack of work ethic due to the low pay
The difference, of course, is that while the doctor worked hard and invested a significant portion of his/her time and money to become proficient at a very desirable skill that only ~0.2% of the population took the trouble to learn, these other jobs......didn`t bother.

The one thing these jobs have in common is that they require little to no skill, and can be done by virtually anyone.

Anyone being able to do it = not much compensation for doing it.

And the doctors `get rich` through that hard work and doing something ~99.8% can`t.

There`s a reason I don`t work any of the jobs listed...the pay sucks and it`s actually very easy (with a little effort) to find a job-skill that will pay more.

How many of that 98% simply can`t afford, and/or are denied the loans the 2% had?

And I`m not saying everyone else is. Some are, obviously.

If anyone is willing to work these jobs and not better themselves, there could be many reasons. Lazy is one (but the fact that they are working actually proves that otherwise), complacency, `it`s too hard`, etc.

But, while becoming a doctor is so hard than only a portion of a percent accomplish it, obtaining a skill-set that will get you out of these type jobs is actually quite simple.

You really are that ignorant, aren`t you? Of course employers pay the least amount possible to attract and retain qualified employees. Doing otherwise would not only be stupid, it could get them fired and sued for breaching their fiduciary responsibility to their stockholders.

Likewise, employees seek out the best paying jobs for which they are qualified. To do otherwise would be just plain stupid.

ObamaCare makes hiring more expensive, so employers respond rationally -- cutting back hours and laying off employees so as not to trigger the mandate to pay for overpriced insurance.

It`s called the free market. You should read up on it sometime.

The main reason wages are so low is that the Obama economy has created record levels of REAL unemployment (not the fraudulent numbers put out by the Bureau of Labor Statistics). That creates a supply surplus of labor which drives down the price (wages). Why pay $15/hr. for a worker when you have dozens of people lined up to take the job for $10?

Now the politicians of BOTH parties want amnesty for illegal aliens. How do you think that will affect the price of labor when you increase the supply of unskilled labor by another ~5 million?

Your typical low-skilled, low-information, low-IQ Democrat voters are cutting their own throats by voting for this $#!+.

Don`t try to play it up, depending on where they work they don`t even have to flip the burger. Literally. Throw some ingredients on a bun and put some fries down in the fryer. Not a cook by my definition.

@OldOllie thank you for explaining so simply why the free market is a horrible way to run the world. All of the things you said are true but they`re also horrible, selfish and uncaring.

Socialism is a dirty word in these parts but it generally just means putting people first not profit. You`ve just explained the consequences of the opposite and I don`t like them.

FuzzySheep Socialism is a dirty word in these parts but it generally just means putting people first not profit.

Actually Old Ollie was explaining unintended consequences. No one denies that Socialism isn`t a noble idea, it just doesn`t work as it doesn`t understand human behaviour. Take Doctors for example, Cuba has a shortage around holiday season as they can earn more money being taxi drivers or tour guides for less effort. Venezuela nationalised the oil and appropriated assets so it could be run for their people. The company needs to import oil because it`s soo inefficient and terribly run. USSR needed to become a police state to force people to obey and not escape. Venezuela again housing policies have actually built less houses per annum then the capitalists before Chavismo. And I can go on

These all started as noble socialist aims, but unintended consequences of innate human behaviour just made the situation worse.

If I want to say something, I will say it, not imply it.

If you infer something that I did not say, that demonstrates your bias.

    turdburglar-Things are not that simple.
Some things are complicated (such as becoming a doctor).

Many things are simple (such as these jobs).

Even more simple is that if you are in a very simple job, and don`t like the money, improving your job skills and work ethic will help you get a better paying job.

fuzzysheep-Socialism is a dirty word in these parts but it generally just means putting people first not profit.
Except for the very small problem that it has never, and will never, work.

fuzzysheep-You`ve just explained the consequences of the opposite
And yet, the consequences of socialism (tens of millions dead, famine, corruption, etc), you seem to have no problem with?

See, the difference between Capitalism and Socialism is that while the former works and has created wealth and a high-standard of living for most, the latter has never worked, ever, and cannot possibly work.

Tiredofnicks-we Scandinavians aren`t socialists in your eyes anymore?
No, not true socialists. There is a significant free market in your area.

Also, you`re propped up by the exploitation of your resources (iron ore, oil & gas). The US can`t do that (environmentalist greenies). You basically have the population of Texas, and produce about 15 times the oil per populace that the US.

Your biggest asset is your culture. You generally value education, hard work and good governance. That wouldn`t fly in the US, either.

You`re basically `socialist` because your situation allows you to be, for now. As your immigration problem worsens, as an increasing portion of your population no longer believes in hardwork, your socialism will suffer.

The Bank of Finland, for example, warns that an aging population and large public debt will lead to fading economic growth, persistently high unemployment and deteriorating public finance.

@Mr_Pedo_Bear I agree with all but one point. I do not concede that socialists have noble aims. I think they`re all a bunch of arrogant pricks who think they`re smarter than everyone else in the world combined, which just happens to be the definition of the free market. All they ever want to do is boss people around and take their stuff. Helping the poor is just a pretext for them usurping power which is what they live for.

Everywhere they have taken power, the result is always the same: poverty, misery, and fear surrounded by walls, barbed wire, and guard towers. Meanwhile, the US has to build walls and fences to keep people out.

fuzzysheep, if you think socialism is so great, look at its track record: the Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, Red China, North Korea, Vietnam, East Germany, Burma, Cuba, and Venezuela were or still are all complete unlivable $#!+holes because of socialism.

Whoever provided your education owes you a refund.
