WTF is wrong with cops today?

They`re stupid and prone to senseless acts of violence. There, I answered my own question.

Out of the thousands of K9 cops who would lay down their lives and die for their dogs and never lay a mean hand on them, they`ve found the one who is abusive. Not a cop thing. There`s always going to be one bad one.

I heard a rumor that if you score higher than 120 on the iq test, police academy`s wont accept your application.

It`s pretty obvious a lot of people have no clue what is going on in the video. The guy was not abusing the K-9. You have to be stern and physically dominant, or the dog will not respond to you when it really matters. Techniques like this are often used by K-9 officers and are taught in training. You don`t want a large, aggressive dog that has been trained to go after people seeing you as a pushover. They are not family pets.

Seriously, I encourage you to talk to K-9 officers at your local police department, or people who train dogs for the police and military. That cop was not doing anything unusual or abusive.

The dog wasn`t obeying, so he had to send a very clear message. It would be dangerously negligent to do otherwise. Discipline is paramount with animals like these, or departments will be facing lawsuits when the K-9 decides to ignore orders and keeps tearing into someone.

For those of you thinking he didn`t abuse the dog you are so full of poo. One of my good fiends os a dog trainer and I have worked with military MP dog units and you never hang a dog off the ground. That is not a training technique. This cop needs to be fired.

If the officer was indeed suspended, it had noting to do with abusing the K-9, but everything to do with appeasing an ignorant public.

I`ve been close friends with a guy since junior high who has been a K-9 police officer since the early 1990`s. I have seen him do very similar things with his K-9 while on duty when the animal gets too excited or aggressive. Unless you clearly establish dominance, an animal that size that has been trained to attack, may very well decide to blow you off and do its own thing.

They teach officers in K-9 training to use techniques that most of us would shudder to think of using on our pets. But remember, these are working police dogs, not a lap dog. They can be very aggressive and need to be firmly put in place at times.

And Drworm, my MOS was 5811 (military police) in the USMC, and I spent nearly 7 years as a civilian police officer. While never a K-9 officer, I still know what I`m talking about.

One other thing. K-9s wear duty harnesses. The dog was most likely being suspended by the shoulders, not the neck, when being lifted off the ground. If the officer was strong enough, he could have held the dog up like that for 20 minutes and it would not have hurt the animal at all. He was simply establishing dominance.

If he wanted to choke the dog, they have choke collars specifically made for that. Which is why I strongly believe his intent was not to choke the dog by lifting it. The lead is secured to the harness, not a collar in most cases, and using the choker collar would require far less effort and would be more effective.
