Really tolerance? So when they protested the guy who was made CEO of Mozilla, just because he disagrees with you that`s ok? So, who is the intolerant ones again? That said, there is no reason to be hateful towards alternative lifestyles. Why can`t people simply agree to disagree and move on? But here, this comes off as preachy and elitist on top of something that is already preachy and elitist. I mean really, you are making an agenda with graham crackers!

@broizfam and @LordJim, I think that you`re both correct, too. In my reply to @onoffonoffon, I just wanted to agree that tolerance at least means not actively going after someone, not actively discriminating, and, given how things often are, that`s progress.

But certainly, if the person doing the "tolerating" is in a position of power (either by force or vote or law), then it truly is not enough, and for the reasons you list. Fortunately, those who aren`t tolerant in this particular case, are less and less in a position of power (via vote, force, law, etc.) in those ways. And that`s a good thing. :-)

Tolerance. The thing about tolerance is that it can be withdrawn. If I choose to tolerate your life style then that is magnanimous of me, but (clearly implied)I reserve the right to stop tolerating you.

Tolerating an annoying colleague is not the same as tolerating a demographic. Not at all. I don`t think I`d be very comfortable if I was part of a group that was being tolerated.

@SmagBoy,
I made my comment before reading yours. Now I feel I have to comment on your comment. That was beautifully well said. Also, with regard to tolerance vs. acceptance: I think that sometimes they`re closely associated, if not actually equivalent, in that it takes at least some amount of acceptance to tolerate something. That is, if you are completely unable to accept a situation it will be intolerable to you. You can only tolerate if you can also, at least to some degree, accept.

@onoffonoffon, you`re absolutely correct. Tolerance is enough. I misspoke.

I haven`t made any submissions in months that I imagined could be even vaguely political (although some took my Gibson guitar post as a political one, it was not intended that way). This is obviously a divisive topic, but I hope that the message of love and acceptance of everyone is what`s most powerful about the video. Seems to me this sort of thing deserves our attention.
