Link: AGM-176 Griffin Missile DESTROYS Target - The target was the little wooden guy and not the boat.

Impressive but... whats it for? I mean, it didn`t sink the boat, but its still going to have a fairly large kill radius, plus we don`t know what it did to the boat, maybe it sunk in 10 minutes not 10 seconds.

@ba - I`m assuming greater precision with less collateral damage. If you notice the person in back wasn`t blow to bits either.

It certainly is impressive, but I hope this is not the intended purpose of the missile. I`m all for overwhelming force, but I think we spend too much on developing these costly high tech weapons that are aren`t as adaptable or reliable as cheaper older methods. It seems like we didn`t learn from the sherman tank or the F-4 Phantom, high tech and precise often comes at the cost of the efficiency of the weapon.

Isn`t this why we have the Marine corps? Get two leathernecks in a crows nest and they can take care of business for the price of a 50 cal. bullet instead of a multimillion dollar missile. Plus the Marines still work if the enemy is super close or has hostages, I`m not so sure this missile would.

Despite that, this does show the growing accuracy of our missile tech. I wonder if it could go through windows? That would really bring down collateral deaths. Awesome post 12chars.

A $450,000 solution for a problem that doesn`t really exist.

Here, the UK Royal Marines show how to do it easier and cheaper. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuBOUZg0nOQ

The amount of money wasted by NATO military forces is ridiculous... :/

" They`re really great for righting wrongs."

And if you accidentally take out an innocent family or two, you can always pretend that "they were associated with combatants"
