Cheating..because he only lifts a portion of the weight as he stands up. so he gets past the difficult part of the lift with help from a bar that bends instead of a regulation bar that is ridged... He`s only lifting the full amount the last 6 inches of his lift... I call Bs!..

A regulation bar bends at all weights. It`s designed to do so to avoid shock cracking, which is very dangerous. Watch any competition deadlift over 400 lbs. The bar always bends, as designed.

And it`s true, the video is not called "Man stronger than anyone on IAB", it is basically called "Man stronger than anyone on Earth". Feel free to grab the bar and set this dude in his place. This guy didn`t get to this point with bad technique.

It was definitely correct form. I`m pretty sure his nods were to judges confirming that he locked his shoulders.

As for the bar bending, that happens on regulation bars as well. Hell, the bar bends a little whenever I do ~325lb dead lifts, I could only imagine how much it would bend with almost 4 times as much weight.

The bending of the bar does make things a bit easier for him, he "ramps up" to the full weight as opposed to being subjected to it right away when lifting the bar off of the ground. Also, he moved the full weight about a foot, instead of the full motion (like briandwarf said).

However, it`s still an amazing accomplishment, he`s still supporting that weight and the amount of strength required to move the weight how much he did is incredible.

    It was definitely correct form.

I think that could be considered proven by him walking afterwards. Lifting 1155 lbs without correct form would cause injury, surely?

    Damn, that`s nearly 500 Kg. A fair-sized cow`s worth of weight.

Okay, I`m impressed, BUT, because of the way the bar bent he didn`t have to get it all off the ground at once, i.e., he didn`t have to lift the entire weight from a squat. The last tires didn`t clear the ground until he was standing nearly upright. I wonder how much he could lift on a short rigid bar.
