Link: The Soviet Moon Lander - It built to beat the Americans to the moon. Found abandoned in a Lab in Moscow.

They even had a ship built to deliver it to the moon. But, once the crew got inside, there was no room left for the lander ...

    Seriously, though, great photo.

This was just a ground test model, it would`ve never made it to space. But it does show that the Ruskies were working on it.

Da! The Soviets always were into sphere shapes on their spacecraft, weren`t they? Their space program was filled with a special breed of math enthusiast, I suspect, who adored the sphere`s efficiency and strength. Very pure, if you will. I say that with a lot of respect, having worked in IT with a few Russian transplants who were schooled under the Soviet system.

Reminds me of Dr. Evermore`s Forevertron. One of the most unusual people I have met. I could talk to his (ex, but still?) wife for hours. She has a scrapbook of very, very strange events regarding government activities.

    Forevertron
