Considering English speakers are the minority on the web, this fails badly. How good is you Mandarin folks?

How many Mandarin sites do you visit, MrOrange?

Even if English is your second language, how many sites do you visit that are in English and/or your native language?

    yeah @MrOrange

as an english speaker, i don`t go to anything else than english sites. that`s like saying iab should be in mandarin because we`re the minority, or current captcha shouldn`t be english. did you think about the sh*t the you let slip from your mouth, or do you have a condition, where sh*t just falls out without being processed?

They`d still get in through multiple guessing though...

English is currently the dominant language of the internets. I doubt it will change anytime soon, since China severely restricts the access of it`s citizens. Also: English is the most commonly understood language, if you count 2nd and 3rd languages spoken, eh?

Considering English speakers are the minority on the web, this fails badly.

*Native* English speakers are a minority on the web, but I`d be surprised if English speakers are. English is extremely widely spoken as a foreign language. It`s the international lingua franca (pun intended, of course).

Trying typing in Mandarin (or Cantonese or any of the Chinese dialects). That`s another reason for using an alphabet-based language online.

he obvious answer would be for a captcha to use the same language as the page it blocks access to. I think it`s a safe assumption that there are common errors in other languages too.

English is currently the dominant language of the internets. I doubt it will change anytime soon

How soon is soon? Other languages have had similar or even greater dominance in the past. Greek comes to mind.

    @Angilion! *run/tackle/hugs*

Sorry, a flashback from my Hostboard days :-)

Native Speakers: That`s why I mentioned 2nd and 3rd language ability. Many more people "speak English" than any other language.

    How soon is soon?
500 years used to be "fast".
    Then 100.
Now a days? 10 years is rapid change. Who knows what will happen in the next decade? The whole world has become more unstable than ever before.

It used to be that Empires would rise and fall. Think of the Toltec, Inca or Aztec. The rest of the world? Unaffected.
But now? We are really ALL in the same boat.

The effects of "Anti-Babylon" would be terrific, I think. But billions think their own language is more important that a "global consensus" and would rather see global suffering than local loss...
