    I got 6 pack abs from crunches, but what they were showing were sit-ups.

    Sure, but:

    1) There are better core exercises than crunches

    2) A person that is not under 10% body fat (or ~14% for women) won`t be able to get a six pack with a million crunches

    Just doing crunches won`t get you anywhere. You have to eat right, and keep below a certain body fat percentage.

    hmm, the crunches thing puzzles me too. obviously you can target a particular area of "fat", but you can exercise the muscles there, and isn`t that what a six pack is about?

    crunches and sit ups are hell for your spinal cord. just tighten the core when your deadlifting/ bent over rows etc etc. they will grow, and you won`t feck yer back. And no a sixpack isn`t about the muscles it`s about low fat percentage (as Keyh mentioned) and you burn fat much more effectivly by hitting the back or thigh muscles..
