Some are shown better in perspective. Mt Rushmore for one, Stonehenge for another. To be fair, the pyramids and the Acropolis may come as a bit of a shock- but where the hell did people thing the rest of these place were?

Well, the Hollywood sign and Mount Rushmore are pretty similar in both images, eh?

I knew the Acropolis and the Brandenberg Gate were smack in the middle of huge cities, so that`s no surprise.

Stonehedge`s road is slated to be removed soon? And big, new visitor`s centre has been built further away too.

Niagra Falls is beautiful, the area around it is nice!

But the Pyramids were a shock! I thought the city was FAR away! Not built right up to the gate like that. Yeesh!

The change in perspective really did nothing to diminish the beauty of these places.

I enjoyed this. Some, certainly, were more surprising than others: The Great Pyramid and the Taj Mahal were my favorites.

    Exactly, broizfam.

I am not quite sure what this is supposed to accomplish - of course ancient wonderous sites are going to have major metropolitan areas and pollution and half a dozen things around them - if for nothing more than to service the millions of tourists that come to see them.

It doesn`t diminish the beauty, history or magnificence of the sites themselvs.

You see what you want to see. If you are so bitter, jaded, and pessimistic that you can only see the seedier side of things then I feel sorry for you. The reality of these great landmarks is grand and wonderful. Don`t divorce yourself from their romance to such a degree.

The "Reality" version of Mt Rushmore was quite spectacular, especially in comparison to all of the other rather disappointing reality photos.

I was disappointed by Mt. Rushmore; in North by Northwest, Hitchcock had a forest and and the bad guys` house up top of the sculptures. Remember? Cary Grant and Eva Marie Saint rush out of the house and thru the woods to find themselves looking down at the faces.
