    So in a nut shell.

I hate sports. There`s lots of money in sports so sports are fixed.

Did it mention that the NFL is one of the biggest welfare recipients in the US?

Right on, no surprise. I never liked the `big sports` since it became obviously in love with money. Heck, it`s been pretty obvious since the 90s

How does the fix happen? Are only some players in on it and not others? Trying to do this seems a lot more complicated than just letting meatheads clobber each other and reap the billions of dollars.

No it doesn`t, seems very relevant if you`re going to rabble on about some conspiracy in pro sports.

Still, if you want to watch the championship game of another game you still have that option. Gov money just gives ridiculous amounts of air time (and other insane perks).

Paul Allen bought that Lombardi trophy for the Seahawks this year, no doubt about it.

Three people can`t keep a secret and this person wants us to believe that at the very least thousands of people are in on some kind of fix.

    Riiiiigggghhhhhttt. ;-/

He doesn`t say sports ARE fixed, the author is pointing out that the big four professional sports are businesses, entirely concerned about profit, and have little concern for sportsmanship or the fans. And, if the commissioners and owners decided it was financially beneficial for them to fix games, they would likely do so and there would be few, if any, consequences to those actions.

None of this should be a surprise to anyone.

However, admittedly, I have never seen the appeal of professional or collegiate sports.

Also, 99.999% of sporting events on TV are boring and interrupt the shows I want to watch. I don`t know why people feel any affinity with their "home" team, they are simply a collection of millionaires paid to perform in these entertainment performances.

Feels a bit weakly argued to me. But the answer is simple though. If you don`t like sports go and watch something else like your endless "reality" shows which, of course, are never fixed... :)

The NFL has far more to lose by not following its own rules then going for the "fix". Just ask MLB.

It is the different between ethics and morality.
